I think the cheapest it is listed anywhere is $30. It is a very good beer, worth buying once at that price.

    32 here in S. Florida.
It's worth trying if you like boozy beers. I loved it, 2 other friends loved it, 4 others could not handle it.
The 3 of us are the beer gurus though, the rest were just their for the party.

If you've never had it before, it's worth it, I think. I liked it and it's very good, but I don't think I'd buy it again, though I don't regret the purchase. Any beer I haven't had is a beer I want to try.

Really? I can't believe you found it for less than 20 bucks in NC. The cheapest I found was from World of Beer in Charlotte because they discount to go beers 30% and the "bar" price was $35. Came out to around $25 and I was happy to pay that. All the local bottle shops were asking 30-35

$32 before sales tax (8.7%) here in the far NW. I don't think a single bottle has moved from the shelf. I tried talking a couple friends into splitting a bottle, but they weren't interested.

It was a screw up, which i told them that they were really underpricing it and they didn't seem to care.

Most of the beer buyers in Hudson are likely Minnesotans. Hudson is right on the boarder between Minnesota and Wisconsin. Not sure the Wisconsinites are to blame for lagging Bruery sales in Hudson.

I live nearby so I go to the Bruery about twice a month. Here are my thoughts:

    1. $30 is a reasonable price for that beer. It's 750 ml and boozy. You are going to want to share this with at least one friend if not two or three. See if they can split the cost or at least provide other beers at that time or later on down the road.

    2. BOIS isn't worth the $35 price. It's a very good beer but IMO it isn't great. I think that it's been sitting on shelves here in SoCal for months and months speaks to that. If I'm going to spend that money on a beer it had better be great. I haven't pulled the trigger yet and have had countless opportunities. I won't even spend that on Melange 3 which I like better. That said:

    3. It could be worth the money depending on access to it. I did buy White Chocolate this week for that same price even though I prefer BOIS. I just didn't know if I'd ever see White Chocolate again and know I'll be able to get BOIS whenever I want.

    An aside:

I don't like high prices for beer as much as the next guy but to ponder if any beer is worth $30 to anyone bugs me. Maybe it's not worth it to you but to someone it might. This issue seems to be more prevalent amongst craft beer drinkers than a connoisseur (not consumer) of any other type of alcohol. I just can't imagine going onto wine advocate and seeing people wonder whether or not any type of wine is worth $30 at all (not just to them). Say what you want about the taste profile of BOIS but there is no doubt it is a high quality beer that took time to make and is made with care. It's probably in the top 10% of beers made. If this were a wine that was better than 90% of the wines made no one would bat an eye. This isn't an issue in itself except that so many of these same people that complain about $30 bottles of beer are the same ones that complain that their favorite restaurants don't have the beer selection they are looking for. Beer doesn't get the same respect as wine from the restaurant industry and it won't until restaurants can make similar money off of it. I'm not even saying $100 or $200+ for a bottle like some places charge for some wines but even $50 at a restaurant would make it more worth it.

I agree with most everything you said. This beer is an outstanding beer in its own right, it's well-crafted, it's flavorful, and I think it has a lot going for it. Some people aren't going to like the sticky sweetness of it; others are going to be put off by the amount of bourbon flavors up front. No beer is going to please absolutely everyone. And to be honest, I'm glad it doesn't.

For the price point it's at, Bois has to be a personal decision for each person. I bought a lot of it, I drank some fresh, I'll continue to open a bottle here and there, and I plan on aging the shit out of the rest of this beer. These anniversary beers really grow and develop with time. Frankly, all of them do in some regard, in my opinion. (Just ask anyone who's had Firestone XIV lately.)

Got it for $23 in Troy NY. Must have to age, it seems a sweet alcoholic mess.

It is my understanding that the solera process is very expensive for the brewery. I appreciate The Bruery for trying to elevate the industry, but they serve an extremely niche market at this point.

Craft beer has not acheived wine snobbery yet. It is coming, though.
