Australian Summer Ninja focuses on a newer hop called, wait for it... "Australian Summer"

Down Unda Ninja will focus more on a blend featuring AU summer, Waimea, Wakatu, and maybe some Nelson and Galaxy.

Originally we were just going to do the big southern hemisphere blended Down Unda, but found out later that many of the intended hops hadn't yet landed in the US, still waiting for them in fact. We had been told they were ready previously and went ahead planning the new beer. I am working to update the new website to include ingredient info for all of our beers, which will help clear up a lot of this stuff in the future. For example, the ninja series is all about the focus of the named hop, but none are truly single hop beers. We often play with other hops either in the boil or in dry hopping. The goal being a rounder fuller hop profile.

 

I thought it was because they don't ever have tier 3 beers on tap anymore.

 

Oh yeah, that too. And not giving a shit about the locals.

What's happening with SS? A few weeks ago it was coming in a week or two, then I heard nothin.

 

With the new location opening up, does this mean out of towner FwB will be able to order online and pick up bottles at the shop?

 

I suppose we could do that. The disclaimer has to be that you are 'reserving' online... purchase is made at the shop. So if you don't pick up in a certain time frame, your bottle is up for grabs. Also, we'll have to figure out something special with growler fills... because it's fairly difficult to reserve growler fills. Maybe we'll make it Howler/Bullet reservations allowed only? Pick-up 1 week for non-hoppy and 3 days for hoppy? whadaya think?

Slopworks info will be going out as soon as Beejay draws you up a fun logo for it.

I just seem to remember something being said about being able to reserve a bottle or growler of anything that came out once the store opened (also, maybe I dreamed this because I love you guys so hard), so I was just wondering if maybe this was finally coming to fruition, or if plans had changed (or, if I was making stuff up in my dreams again).

That said, I'd love to be able to reserve bottles and come pick up/buy at the shop every couple months or so. Not sure if that's doable. Obviously space is an issue (much more-so with growlers, I'd think, so the week limit is perfectly reasonable).

Are you guys going to do 32 ounce growlers or fill swing tops of various sizes?

 

Never got clarification on this... Is the stuff in Heaven Hill also Game of Jones or a slightly different beer?

 

Anyone see Cherry Truffle Abduction around? I haven't been able to get a bottle and my local store in Evanston didn't get it in. I have all the others and my cellar doesn't feel complete. Help a brother out!!!

i would love to see some sort of obstacle course challenges in the jiu jitsu dojo parking lot (aka new bottle shop) to gain the ss privileges. or stuff like, who can hold their breath the longest while submerged, but instead of water, the tank is full of NvU.
