The taproom I could understand, as it seems to be common practice to price stuff higher in taprooms to not undercut retailers

do these retailers sell other $17 bombers? or are they pricing them so low because they dont think theyll sell at $17 but have to pick them up to keep in good graces w/ NB (pressure to purchase the entire line)? subsidizing lof beers w/ fat tire sales, so to speak...

That would be one thing if it was one place but it seems to be lower priced everywhere. Also the post about the price in NE says he's buying it at $9.50 and selling at $12 so I took it at that was a store getting it for $9.50 from the distributor which means NB sold it to the distributor for less then that.

It's that price at every bottle shop I've been to in the southeastern Wisconsin area (which is pretty much all of them), I don't think it's a few stores selling for no/low margins to keep getting NB brews

So, I know Mile High got this last week, but has it come and gone from everywhere else?

Probably see it several places this week. Some places didn't get it until the end of the week so if a store doesn't get their delivery until the beginning of the week they will probably get it this week

Mebuzzard...for all the complaints about price that come up. Can you speak to Colorado laws concerning margins on beer? Isn't it pretty strict. I think it speaks to the intent behind the 3.2 law of keeping the smaller beer and wine shops in business.

As far as I know, there is no law addressing the margins....except that a wholesaler/distributor cannot sell a product less than they purchased it from the supplier. But as far as mark-ups go, I believe it is unlimited.

I have yet to see the cost/price of this beer in Denver and my sales rep doesn't know.
    Anyone?

I thought a certain markup was required preventing someone who has a Ton of purchase power taking over the market.

They kind of are. Case deals is what drives the unfairness is most instances. Let's say a case of BeerX costs $32 regular price. But the case deal is 50 cases for $27.50. Big, corporate stores can afford those deals, and have the storage to handle their order. Smaller stores cannot, and their shelf prices will reflect the difference. Some of these bigger stores effectively play the role of warehouser and store beer for, sometimes, months....but they get a better deal. It's the Wal-Mart effect.
In the case of Terroir, I don't know what the cost is, or who distributes NB in other states. Here it's Coors and they have a lot of "persuasion"
