HDnet is no more and has become the music focused AXS TV. His new Kickstarter project, Chug, is supposed to replicate his first drinking show, Three Sheets, which was significantly better than DME, in my opinion. Three Sheets was informative and interesting, while DME was much less informative and fratboyish in its premise. Now do a show like Three Sheets, but with just beer and you would have the show almost everyone in this thread is asking for.

Agreed I liked 3 sheets. DME usually made me sleepy or annoyed or both...

I watched it part of it and it seems alright, but there seems to be a lot of filler on the show and brewing on the train doesn't seem needed. I started watching Beer Geeks too and like it more so far. Surprised to see Jim Koch was as enthusiastic on the show as he appears in his commercials. Maybe the guy is authentic. Also thought it was funny how the beers he sampled were the Belgium funk series and the Utopia and not his favorite Boston Lager.

Episode two has been much better than the first episode. Damn nice little all grain homebrewing setup they used on the roof.

I rarely watch Tv, just movies and a few odd BBC shows that you can find on Netflix, so I definitely have not been overexposed to whatever "reality" shows are but I enjoyed the Brewdogs show. Odd, weird, a little silly and it is about beer - my standards for relief from high-brow drama are pretty low, Family Guy and Monty Python work for me so these guys on the Brewdog series and the people they meet are not offending to me at all. Wish them the best of luck in making more of these shows, hope they come to my town for a filming. What the heck, hook up with A. Bourdain for an episode while they are at it....

Not anywhere near as good. I love the way that Oz & James play off each other (and sometimes clash).... the wine lover learning about new beers and the beer lover learning about wines. Here it's like-minded hosts and brewers brewing beer while clashing with the outside public by trying to convert "virgins". Because each episode is self-contained to a city (and mostly to 1 brewery), it's not really a "road trip" show like Oz & James either.

Hope that answers your question.

Yeah, he basically called their beer "toilet wine" (which is where a lot of pruno is made from how I understand it), lol.

After watching the first two episodes of Brew Dogs, I've come to the conclusion that it sucks. That's why it's buried on the Esquire channel.

I think I'm done watching this show. It's gimmicky and makes good beer seem like a fad. I'll pass on them brewing a beer made from Eagle's fan's tears and the morning dew from the crack of the liberty bell during a parade in Philly.

You guys are way too harsh. Gimmicky? Slightly. It's still a fun show to watch. Last's nights was good except that Drakes isn't in SF which they included in their list. Cool to see Berryessa get a mention with the food pairing at City Beer Store. Almanac got a lot of time too. Sad at the lack of Fritz Maytag though. And appropriate use of the word hella.

Now this I could get behind.

The show isn't bad, it's kinda entertaining. I'm happy Almanac got a lot of screen time.

You're being waaaay to serious about a TV show. It's entertainment and it's, BEER!

They have to throw in some of the "schoolboy crap" to make it interesting to the masses.

The show is enjoyable. They cant cater to only the insane beer geeks, because then it would only appeal to a few thousand people (and we would still bitch about it). This is a TV show for the masses, they have to entertain people who are not as serious as we are. That being said, the show is entertaining. They have done a good job showcasing a good brewery in each episode, both of whom have products widely distributed. This part is important because people are going to go look for some beer to buy after they see the show.

I wonder how many here would be even remotely interested in this if they were doing this show from the UK instead of the States. Providing these same antics and opinions from places and breweries that are unfamiliar to US BAs might actually be educational, but it certainly wouldn't be accepted as well.

I thought the second episode was pretty good, like others have said...it's just a tv show about beer, my wife thought it was funny and she doesn't drink beer unless I trick her. So, with all the idiotic inane reality crap that proliferates the airwaves today being a gauge of whats good on tv...Brew Dogs isn't that bad.

I enjoyed last night's episode, which I caught pretty much by accident. Good to see so much attention paid to our local craft beer and not just the standard Anchor Brewery stuff. I have some relatability issues with seeing them carry glasses of beer out the door at City Beer and walking down the street with them. I guess you can get away with anything if you have a camera crew following you around.

It's great junk TV. It's one of the few programs dedicated to craft beer - though I'm imagining many more coming in the near future. They're great personalities, it features breweries we love, and it gives positive exposure to beer bars. I love homebrewing and I love cooking. I love this show in the same way I love shows like "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives." It's junk, but there's entertainment value and some takeaways.
