Socialization is a powerful thing. Someone makes a statement that, to the uninformed, sounds like it could be true based on previous assumptions. Then the statement gets repeated as fact over and over again. Happens all the time (with WAY more stuff, and more important stuff than beer, I might add).

No, just the opposite; I just had to read it twice. At first, I thought you were dissin' frosted glasses until I read it again and realized what you meant. I, on the other hand, have been turning my bottle upside down and just dumping the whole thing into my frosted glass and making a huge mess and losing most of my beer...until I read this incredibly helpful tip!

Two things learned from the comments:

    IPAs sucks.
Smoke is a hotly debated form of matter.

"I do likes me a cold one on a hot summer day..." Nonsense like that doesn't belong on a major news reporting website. I miss the days where I could read a properly edited and informative article. Nowadays it's generally videos, twitter tweet filled randomness, and amateur-level articles like this one. All whining aside, I do like that the author is trying to promote beer drinking as being something more than binging on BMC lights. I'm also now incredibly thirsty for some brew with fluffy bubbles, which I wont be able to have for another two hours because I'm stuck at my desk.

I used to drink beers straight out of the bottle but BA helped me to fix that problem what an idiot I was for not enjoying beer the right way.

The only unhealthy thing in beer is the alcohol.

And it's true 1 or 2 beers a day will have benefits on balance, you can get the same benefits without the alcohol, so while this article is objectively correct it is in no way a health argument to drink more beer.

The only reason to drink more beer is that it's awesome.

Only if you are an utter moron it will be dish water. Think about that and come back to us.

The article I read was in Mens Health and alcohol in moderation is good for you, their definition of moderation or the authors was 2 drinks a day of beer/red wine especially lowered LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. Higher incidents of heart and health problem in general were from teetotalers and heavy drinkers. Better to drink after you eat because the liver processes the alcohol first and stores what you eat until it can get around to it so you could gain some weight. Alcohol tends to reduce serum glucose as well. You can probably find 10 articles stating the opposite I'm sure.

Or a bar patron where they move glasses straight from the dishwasher to the freezer.

Yeah, I've seen places that use the "3 sink method" of manual glass washing take the still-wet glass from the final sink of "sanitizer" and stick it immediately in the freezer, which is contrary to instructions which always say to allow the sanitized glass to "air dry":
Not exactly "dishwater" but not very appetizing, either.

When I saw this being done at a bar that opened nearby, I asked for a "room temp" glass (as I always do when I know "frosted glasses" are the norm). Some of the bartenders will then grab a frozen glass from the freezer, look around puzzled, and dip the glass in sink #3 to wash off the frost! :grimacing:

"Uh, no, no... can't you just rinse that glass off under fresh running water for me?
I'm "sensitive" to that sanitizer solution."

I drink beer at home largely, so I was thinking of frosted glasses at home (which I don't abide). Apologies to the guy I snapped at.

"You're sure to find an ale, stout, lager or amber that is just right for you."

I hate when people writing about beer do not understand the most basic divisions of style. If this article were about wine, it would read, "You're sure to find a red wine, syrah, white wine or pinot noir that is just right for you." An article about wine written like this would be met with derisive laughter. People writing about beer really need to get it together...

The lower carbonation can understandably be perceived as a heavier, thicker, creamier beer. I do really hate hearing people say how "heavy" dark beers are though lol.

Pitty there wasn't a historical reference to the times in history when ale was healthier to drink than the contaminated water supply.

The closet prepper in me is always reassured by the steady, rolling stock of homebrew I have.

Yeah, ask your friendly bartender with the chain connecting his eyebrow ring to his left nipple if he is using organic sanitary distilled spring water in the third sink of dishwater behind the bar as he dips your "cool frosty mug" and schleps it into the freezer. Think about that and come back to us.................no actually, don't think about it. Just keep drinking out of frosty mugs. You deserve it.
