Right now we have about 25 people who have either rsvp'd on Facebook or in person to me. If anyone else wants to go, please rsvp by the weekend. There might still be a chance we could use Tribes. I'm going to meet with them early next week with a headcount and see what they can do for us.

Would it be advantageous to have Niall institute a drink minimum for this? Or an unofficial "guarantee" by the group?

Seems like if Niall is being generous enough to let people in with their own beer we should reciprocate by agreeing to buy a couple of beers and/or food.

I was planning on doing that anyhow...

Me and my +1 are both on the fb event, and we will certainly be getting food. Tribes can embrace the event and put something barrel aged on their draft (like that parabola they have on deck) and I'm sure most of us would get a pour of that as well.

Definitely getting food, this is how I plan on surviving the onslaught of tasty beers. I'd love to see what barrel aged beers Niall can come up with for the event; I'd definitely be down to buying a couple pours from him.

There are tapping the Parabola next Thursday, but I'm gonna ask him about putting something on tap for us that day when I talk to him next week.

If you guys can limit the attendance to the first 35 confirmed. We will host the event here at Tribes Tinley for you.
Keep in mind, that we are doing this for our love of all things beer and barrel aged. And because of that, we are not looking for any form or room rental, cover charges or fees. Would we appreciate it if you guys spent a few bucks while here? Of course we would!! That way we can make sure the server gets a tidy little tip for their efforts with supplying glassware, water, and clean up etc. We will open early for you so the event doesnt impede too much with our lunch business. All I would ask is that you keep it to 2 hours 11AM-1PM (NOT 2PM). At that point, all bottles are trashed, consumed or put away and the space you are occupying can be resold to lunch patrons. You all can then move to the bar or individual tables for continued day drinking! I will make sure we have something awesome on for you that morning so when your event is concluded, you will have first access to a freshly tapped brew. If this is acceptable, have someone get with me via message or email.

I would think that's very acceptable... excellent customer service from a great establishment!

Sounds like a done deal! We're sitting at around 30 right now. We can probably take 5 more people on the rsvp list if need be. Can't wait. Thanks again to Niall and Tribes!

Ok guys. I talked to Niall yesterday about setting ground rules for this event. This is what we came up with:

    1. 2 bottle limit - nobody needs to drink over 48 ounces of beer in 2 hours. If you get sloppy you will be asked to leave.

    2. Only drink as much beer as you bring. Don't be that guy who brings a 12 oz bottle and expect to go to town on everyone else's beer.

    3. Small samples - let everyone try to get a chance to try what they want.

    4. Beer must beer finished by 1. No excuses. All extras must be brought back to your car at this time.

    5. Be friendly and polite. Douchebaggery will not be tolerated.

    6. Please tip our servers. Most of us probably won't eat until the event is over, but they will be getting us water/sample glasses and cleaning up after us. I will probably have an envelope that we can all throw a couple bucks into for them. It's the least we can do for Tribes letting us do this for free.

That's it folks. I think most of us have been to these kind of things before and know how to act. If all goes well maybe we'll be allowed back to do a halfway to FOBAB tasting in April.

Oh! There will be a special barrel aged beer tapped for us right after the event. It will be something we'll all enjoy, I can tell you that!

I hope to see all you guys/gals who rsvp'd. Only a month from today! I guess we can start a list. Anyone interested in making a spreadsheet for this?

You could have people submit which beer they are bringing and based on that make a decision or vote of which 20 or go with a different location.

I created a spreadsheet that lists everyone who accepted to the Facebook invite. I made a column for people to put their BA handle and what beers their bringing. as soon as Google docs comes back up, I'll post it up here so everyone can edit accordingly.

Once you gather everyone's BA handles, it would probably be wise to start a private message among the 20 BAs that are going, rather than discussing details here. It sounds like the event is supposed to be at a strict 20 people maximum, and you might be better-off taking things private so that people don't confuse this for an open event.

Ok. How about this, for those of you who accepted the Facebook event invite, send me a BM with your name. I will reply back with a link to the spreadsheet. You can then enter the beers you will be bringing. Sound good?
