This. No kidding. The Raccoon Lodge and Brew Pub blows the doors off the regular offerings at 3 Floyds. I've only been once and am craving a return trip.

As much as I absolutely love Zombie Dust (Citra), Alpha King (Cascade/Warrior/Centennial), Dreadnaught, and Arctic Panzer Wolf (Citra??), 3 Floyds can be a bit of a 'one trick pony' (that they do extremely well) with its massively hop forward offerings. Haven't tried Dark Lord, but we'll see this weekend how that stacks up against the other stout's I've had this winter.

Funny that Nick Floyd wants to criticize the Portland beer scene when most of his success has come with the hand of the hops grown primarily in the pacific northwest.

He said not in the city. My vote is for either Logan Square or Lincoln Square/North Center/Ravenswood. How awesome would it be to make a stop at Revolution or Half Acre and then a short walk to 3 Floyds.

Not awesome, it would put HA and Revolution OOB! That said, I think if they threw a spot down in Evanston or Lincoln Park, they'd have huge business.

It'll take the same amount of time to drive to munster, drink, sober-up, drive back than it would to get to and get in to the pub in chicago. I'm quite indifferent.

But instead of driving to Munster, you could drive to Chicago... Munster... Chicago.... Chicago.

Cannot wait for my first Cascade trip this fall. It almost seems illegal to have that many amazing sours on tap at one time.

Munster is NOT far from Chicago but with a Chicago location I won't have to rock-paper-scissors a designated.

Plus it makes great business sense, duh.

I'm with the few people in saying that it will be nice, but probably would still make the trip to Munster. Due to the fact that it can easily take me twice as long to get into the city as it does to get to Munster, even though i live twice as close to chicago as i do to munster. It would still be awesome though.

I second a Logan Square or Lincoln Square/North Center/Ravenswood location. I could book a room and hit 3 great spots.
    I love Chicago

I realize you're just kidding, but locating near existing brewpubs/breweries would make good business sense for Three Floyds and likely benefit Half Acre or Revolution as well. Here's a good explanation from a recent Beeronomics post:
    http://beeronomics.blogspot.com/2012/04/spatial-economics-and-where-to-locate.html

I don't know about Sierra Nevada, but I can certainly imagine a Bell's brewpub or taproom. That was actually one of my first thoughts after digesting the news about Lagunitas.

I'm more excited for the 3 Floyds/Mikkeller bar in Europe... probably less hipsters, beards, bad tattoos and grumpy, overweight suburbanites.
