Why don't they just make a personalized ticket so that everyone can do whatever they want to get the bottles that they are entitled to? :astonished:

Seriously not everyone it going to get bottles, not everyone is going to be able to make it. I'm amazed how much JK caters to the BA community to begin with I don't understand why we feel they should bend over backwards to help us get what we think we deserve.

Want to know why I think FT won't do a release like the AR release. 1) they don't brew enough beer. When you only have 200 bottles there is no point in spacing out a release 2) FT doesn't care about catering to the BA community. Sure they let us have a bottle share prior to releases and brew beers we like, but they care about the locals that support them by going to the brewpub often, not the BAs that only come down to buy special bottles.

Cause they like us. We should drop our entitlement though, it's getting old.

I'm glad they like us and I really like it that they come in here and personally answer our questions. But when people feel that they should hold bottles for them and move things around to work with their personal schedule that's when I see a problem.

I hope you're not implying that because I can't drive to Austin every weekend to visit the brewery that I don't deserve to get my hands on some JK bottles...

I support them by buying their regular off the shelf offerings here in Houston all the time,

I can't drive to the brewery every weekend... hell, I can barely drive to the brewery once a year.. when I could buy their special offerings off the shelf here, I would make special trips to the store to get them... are hope you.re not implying that because I'm not local to Austin I don't deserve to be able to drive to the brewery and get some...

Sorry that I have to be at work on Monday and can't stay all afternoon and try everything I would like to.

whatever the brewery decides to do is their business decision... however, that doesn't mean i can't provide some input on what might work for myself and other BA's.

The point being made is that if you want the brewery only release, then you'll make the arrangements to be there to purchase it. Whether or not you have to work or drive xx hours really means nothing.

No need to get defensive. But please expect some honest feedback when you make a post that comes off as you being very entitled. As does the post I quoted here.

No I was implying Freetail and San Antonio. I can't drive to Austin all the time too, but I've excepted the fact that I might not get to tick everything. If it is something that really matters to me I will either 1) Take the time to go get it or 2) Figure out a way to trade for it. But the idea that because I buy x breweries beers all the time means they need to cater to me makes no sense.

Personally I would prefer that FSF is on a Saturday. But JK wants to host it on a Sunday, so I need to make the personal decision whether I should go or not. I'm not going to sit here and complain that I can't make it and I deserve to be able to go so they need to work around my schedule.

    I'm all for feedback...

However, my tone was directed at the previous poster, who's message implied that there are those of us that would only drive out for special bottle releases, and do not support the brewery on a regular basis. I have been buying their beer for 2 years, and would buy more of it if I had the time to get to the brewery and back on a regular basis. Alas, I live in Houston and not Austin.

I don't feel entitled to anything. All I did on the previous page was suggest a ticketing option that works for me so that I can come, enjoy a drink or two, and maybe get a bottle of the stuff I can't drink because I have to drive back home. that's all. and the tone of the post I quoted seemed to imply a negative connotation about some people willing to make the trip for a "special" release.

    Sorry for derailing this thread.

Quoted, because I can't like it twice.

Due to my ever changing schedule, I will be asleep for the 1st few hours of the sale. I won't lose any sleep over it if I miss out on tickets(literally). I can just spend my weekend at Argus and crack a few loons in my hotel room. Own personal funk n sour fest.

If I do get tickets, I will not partake in the bottle share. I can only make my designated driver frown so much.

If I have to drive myself, I'll probably go to the bottle share and just hang out. No need to drink at a bottle share #heresy.

Everyone who jumped on this person's 'entitlement' needs to calm down. He asked a question about maybe having a ticket option (that multiple people might like). We are lucky JK comes on here and interacts with us. Part of that entails suggestions or BAs expressing desires. There's no harm in contributing preferences to this type of discussion, but jumping on people does nothing productive.

What's the point of a forum if people don't present an opinion?

I agree that if something is important enough, one will try one's best to make it work. If you can't, then you can't. The post you quoted does come across as entitled IMO (by diction not content), but the original suggestion post does not.

Poster#1 getting defensive is a direct result of poster#2 being 'on the offensive' (implying that poster#1 is entitled and shouldn't be suggesting a ticket option). Whether or not one finds poster#1 to be entitled is opinion; ridiculing him for make a suggestion (and he made it politely) isn't mature. Honest feedback is fine, but remember JK comes on here for feedback, so poster#1 is 100% in the right for making the suggestion he did.

    #befriendly

Fully on topic, I am very excited to learn more when JK releases the info!

Personally, I think the whole "I just want tickets so I can pick up bottles and leave" really ruins the point of Funk n' Sour Fest. This event is more than just a bottle release. Last years event was a really good time. Sorry if you don't happen to live close and you feel frustrated that you have to travel on a Sunday for beer. There is always the option of using vacation time on Monday

People are allowed to have their own opinion and I'm allowed to have a different one. I was not specifically targeting Bluestar he just happened to voice the opinion I find all too often in the SW forum. I don't blame anyone for feeling like this. For years the laws forced breweries to distribute their beer, so we were able to try all of their special releases with minimal effort. Now that the laws have changed, despite the fact that we wanted that to happen, we now groan about it because we can't get everything like we used to without having to put forth more effort or $. It's nice to see the laws in TX starting to catch up with the rest of the country, perhaps the SW forum will start to catch up with the rest of the country with regards to special releases.
