Well add horseheads pumpkin ale to that list because you have about as much chance of getting that as you do getting roadsmary's baby.

It was excellent by the way.

I've tried 3 different brewers' take on the Pumpkin. Sorry, not my bag. But folks that love them have my utmost respect. Carry on, purveyors of the Pumpkin craft.

Regarding Roadsmary, the author asks "What happens if you age your pumpkin ale in rum barrels?" Well I am not sure that drinking that beer would answer that question, as Roadsmary's Baby was only stored in Rum barrells for 18 days.

The only one I've had is the Pumpkick, and I've had about a case of it, and will probably get more. While it annoys me that they used pumpkin juice instead of pumpkin flesh and threw the cranberry in there, it is actually pretty darn good, and sports a decent 6% abv. It's been the best of the more accessible, reasonably priced ones available in six packs that I can get. I would like to see them do another more traditional take in the future but I'll accept this one for now!

I thought Pumpkick was horrible. Would love to try good gourd sometime.

Stevens Point Whole Hog Pumpkin is still my favorite by far.

We don't get any good ones in state. Over in Mizzou, I dig Schlafly's Pumpkin ale & Southern Tier's Punking. One thing I've noticed; if they're not over 6.5% abv, they seem watery to me. Best one I ever had was a pumpkin stout, would love to see more of those to be sure...

Obviously, the focus in this article is on pumpkin beers from the East Coast, but even so.... I'm surprised they didn't include a review of pumpkin ales from ST and DFH. Even if the focus was on the West Coast, I would still expect any article discussing pumpkin beers to include a review of those two beers.

It is a weird little assortment. I was suprised to see the Pumpkick on there, in fact.

If you can get Southern Tier's Warlock, that is a solid pumpkin stout. Not as 'pumpkiny' as Pumking, but that actually worked in its favor in my opinion.

Schlafy, Southern Tier, and Horseheads make the best pumpkin ales that I've tried- though I'm dying to try Good Gourd.

Hoppin Frog has been my favorite pumpkin beer so far. I like Pumpkick. I've not had many pumpkin beers this year, I got burnt out on them in years past.

Man, I'm open to a Pumpkin beer. I just haven't found one to my liking just yet. The spice/seasoning thang just is quite weird, to me.

I'm right there with you, Pumpkick was not good! I will have a bottle of Good Gourd this weekend, along with Warlock, and a Wicked Weed Barrel Aged Pumpkin. Saturday will be my Harvest Festival!!!
