In fairness, all of the old posts before the site overhaul seem to be gone.

OK, so maybe just his first post in awhile. Still sad.

In other news, Hopfather is out today?! I wish it had been there Tuesday but I guess I have another reason to get over there soon. :grinning:

So hopfather released today, lower bottle limits of FFaC today. Apparently the beer gods are laughing at my decision to head over yesterday

Anyone think the 3 per is just for today or until said otherwise?

Sounds like its 3 per person from here on out. But that's what they said yesterday about the 6 per person...

The goal seems to be through the weekend and to reach the bulk part of each night this week.

Can anyone up in Santa Rosa snag me up some bottles? :grinning: I am in San Jose and can meet in person to trade or reimburse!

    Cheers!

Got my bottles today also. It seems like it's going to be 3 bottles from here on out. I left around 1:30 pm and there was still several cases left behind the bar. Also they are limiting Hopfather to 2 growlers per person.

For anyone who cares, here's the official word on this year's blend from Vinnie:

    "Chad,

Thanks for the email, this year's base was 80% Temptation and 20% Sonambic. It was about 7 or 8 weeks on the fruit at around one pound/gallon. This is the same Sonambic that we blended 7 or 8 batches (disproportionately) for the next batch of Beatification which should get released in December (I'm hoping) though it is still too young in the bottle and thus too early to tell.

    Thanks,

    Vinnie"

FfaC was sold out by 12:15 this morning. Line to get in lasted 30-40 minutes.

So do you now have to arrive before opening to get in at opening?

This may be considered either cheating or a strategy, but ask if the line is for just bottle purchases. Tell them you want a table, you may get sat quicker and then buy some ffac on draft and bottles simultaneously thus bypassing the 'bottle purchase only' line.

Yes these days you most certainly do have to arrive way before opening on days when beers are being released. Unfortunately, it is the nature of the beer release beast these days. Hard to imagine that only a few years ago I could walk into RR on the day of the Younger release and sit comfortably down and have multiple glasses with absolutely no wait or hordes of people. Much more enjoyable scene back then. Now you have to contend with 100s of folks, some of whom are unemployed, who can get in line at 7:00 am on the Friday morning of a beer release to buy bottles. Makes it difficult for working folk to be able to ever acquire rarer bottles these days. Oh well, so much great beer that is easier to obtain and beer geeks care little about because it is not "rare" or "limited" or "low bottle count."

On wednesday I just walked in the back door and was the first to sit down at the bar. I am guessing they had to start banding at the front door yesterday now and only opening that one?

Yesterday they had an employee at the back directing everyone to the front.

I walked through the back door on Thursday morning and got a spot at the bar. Doesn't surprise me that Friday was a lot busier. Lot of folks take 3 day weekends. I'm sure today is even worse.

Here now, sold out in 50 mins, still a line out front. Not sure if the last people to get bottles arrived before or after opening. I showed up at about 10:15 and was ~15th in line. They had bottles for 90 people.
