Leinenkugel is purdy good beer. The Red. the Dark, the 'riginal. Whether it's made by Miller or Carling 0r Blatz or Heileman is immateriel (sic)? I personally know a young lady that absolutely adores the beer. Yep. That's right.

Poorly worded. What I SHOULD have said is "because Miller bought them".

Everyone are welcome to flap their gums about it, but I tried that Orange Shandy they have the other day, and damn was that refreshing. I haven't seen this Helles around as of yet. Has anyone tried their Oktoberfest?

It's pretty thin compared with other Oktoberfests available.

And the Hoppin' Helles is pretty good. For an APA.

I tried it and wondered why it tasted like all their other beers. They should try to intensify the flavor as it is too weak in my opinion. I'm not just saying that it should be hopped up either.

here in the midwest, where i can get leine's six packs for $7.49, the big eddy beers are $9.99 - $10.99 for a 4 pack. sam adams is a very go to price of $7.99 a six, for almost all varieties. can also get the sam adams big batch series here also, but again, 4 packs for $3 - $4 more. i'm on a beer budget, so most of my purchases are $8.99 or less for a 6 pack. but luckily, sierra nevada and deschute's fall into my budget category, so along with sam adams that's what i usually buy.

Agree completely. Far too hop forward for a true Helles (plus the typical hops in Helles lagers don't give off pine, citrus, and resin notes), but actually a decent beer when you don't consider it against the style it's supposed to represent.

Just had it the other day...I agree it was a mighty fine tasting beer...I miss their Fireside Nut Brown...the Hoppin Helles has a great drinkability and it's nice to keep a few around in the fridge.

White cans were from further afield by the time I finally had a taste, but i have a load of 'em rusting away in my can-carriers!

Yep. And it's a funny thing: I was snappin' some photos over at the big "University" today and saw some youngsters loading up for game day: Grain Belt, Miller Lite, and Carling's Black Label. Brought a tear to my eye...

I got 3 of these in a Leinies variety pack. While the Orange Shandy and Honey Weiss were very good I could not finish the 1 Hoppin Helles that I opened. I used the other two to boil brats.

I enjoyed Pearl on a visit to Texas in 1992, and around here we're spoiled for oldline regional choices with Point, Leinenkugel's, Grain Belt . . . at least when we want something a little different from the bigger national brands.

There's even a couple of rare birds (Hauenstein, Deer Brand, Twins Lager) and some real throwbacks in the likes of Fauerbach that have been brought back from extinction.
