Anyone try this yet? I'm curious to hear what others think. I love a good barrel-aged beer and I don't mind them being hot and boozy but this stuff is all booze and no barrel. No sherry, no toffee, no vanilla it just tastes like a Vermonster spiked with moonshine to me. I had high hopes on this one, leaving disappointed. So far Rock Arts barrel-aging program is a fail in my book, will likely not be seeking out their promised BA RIS, too many other people already doing it right.

I had it on tap at the brewery and thought it was real nice. Have a few bottles to try later

I had a growler of the BA RIS, and thought it was great. I don't drink Rock Art often, but feel they are one of VT's underrated breweries. I have not tried the BA Vermonster, but I picked up a couple bottles. I've been wanting to crack one open, but it's hard to find the time to enjoy strong beers with a three-month old boy.

hard to buy rock art given the competition honestly... though vermonster is a solid barleywine. up there with like old ruffian and lagunitas gnarlywine and such (themselves probably underrated in the trend-chasing world of current craft beer).

shame that BA vermonster apparently isn't that well done. i'd give it a try if i saw it.

It's really boozy, but will be good with some time.

I'm not so sure about that, booze will die down but where is the barrel character? It's not just going to magically appear out of thin air.

Haven't tried the BA Vermonster yet but had the BA RIS at Siptemberfest, aged 6 mos. in Maker's Mark barrels, and I thought it was damn good. I feel like they could give that one a full year in the barrel and it'd be a potential knockout.

Glad to hear BA RIS came out well, maybe I will give it a try.

I enjoyed the Barrel Aged RIS at Siptemberfest last weekend and ended up going back for a couple refills. Picked up a couple bombers of the Barrel Aged Vermonster yesterday at the Winooski Bevy hoping it's in the same league as the RIS. Plan to suck one down next week and will report back.

I got a little barrel character, was just dominated by the booze. Was yours from the bottle or on tap at the brewery?

Mine was on tap, maybe there's variation there? I've got a couple bottles I'm gonna sit on as well.

Maybe Rock Art is upping their game, what I've had from them isn't much better than average.

This past weekend I went to the bottle shop to stock up for a get-together. I picked up a bottle, then put it back down, picked it back up, then put it back down...not sure if this thread has helped make up my mind whether to drop the coin to at least give it a try. Vermonster is go-to barleywine so will be dissappointed if this doesn't deliver...which is sounds like it doesn't.

Meh don't take my word for it, I would actually love to hear more opinions, one man's trash...
