I'm from the Southeast and will be visiting a friend in washington, i will be going through idaho as well. He isn't big into bars, so i don't really need too many suggestions on what bars are best to hit in the area, but what good beers i might be able to bring home without too much trouble finding, that i wouldn't otherwise be able to find in Louisiana.

    Thanks!

If I were going to Idaho, I'd check out Selkirk Abbey. Haven't had anything from them yet...

10 Barrel (from Bend, OR) is opening a location in Boise. Might open already. One of the lead brewers is Tonya Cornett, from Bend Brewing. She kicks ass. Also, Selkirk Abbe y, in Post Falls, ID is a MUST hit.

I have and do stop there if you can. Check their website as their hours are extremely limited as well as their bottle releases. Well worth the effort. Hope it works out for you.
Where specifically will you be in Washington? If you make it to the Seattle area a lot of suggestions will be forthcoming.

When are you coming up? Check the map, and decide, go north and hit Selkirk Abbey, or, roll through the middle of WA and stop at Bale Breaker, near Yackymaw. Kinda depends on whether you're a hop head or like Belgiany brews.

Wait a second... from many in this forum I thought the Idaho border stopped at Lake Washington

This has been open for several months. In Boise also check out Bier 30.

They aren't bottling (yet), but Iron Goat in Spokane is worth a stop, but they're not open 7 days a week, so check their hours first.

Paradise Creek in Pullman has a killer huckleberry berlinerweisse.

Was at Bale Breaker earlier today. Terrible, awful, undrinkable. Stuff was so good!

Yes, and a dry hopped version. Both top-notch.

I dropped by yesterday as well. Picked up a growler of the fresh hop, case of Top Cutter and had a couple pints of the pale and the double bubba with some pizza. Beautiful day out there and the beer was fantastic. They are really doing it right.

Also remember that Boise gets Odell distribution, so you can pick up some yummy IPA and/or Myrcenary.

I had the Double Bubba, the Fresh Hop Imperial (apologies for forgetting the name) and a Top Cutter. Between the 4 of us, we took 6 cases of cans. Great beer, friendly staff, cool location (except for the whole "being in Yakima" thing:wink:. I say it's a must hit for anybody going through, or even being within a couple hours of the place.

I'm 5 miles from Selkirk Abby and go about 3 times a year. I'm 10 miles from Slate Creek in Cd'A and go there 3 times a month.
