Guinness is not owned by Heineken. Guinness's parent company is Diageo, which has extensive interests in spirits.

Murphys is owned by Heineken. In fact Heineken brew Murphy's Red in Holland.

Guinness is owned by Diageo, a late 90s merger of Guinness and Grand Met (a hotels, restaurants, spirits conglomerate).

well, yeah, and it also ".. is brewed in almost 50 (countries)..." according to Guinness' FAQ:

Edit - Oops... I see "patto1ro" covered the Guinness ownership while I made coffee...

In the US, even the Murphy's Stout we get is brewed either in Holland or in the UK by Heineken, as well.

I bought a four-pack at The Andersons in Maumee, Ohio a couple of weeks ago.

It's interesting to watch when poured into a glass and very easy to drink.

    A bit overpriced, though.

I saw it today in Atlanta and almost picked it up but settled on a local brown ale: Red Brick A-Town Brown

Very watery. It was hard to tell the difference between this and regular Guinness in a can, except the color. Try Guinness Foreign Extra Stout in a bottle (4-packs only). Worlds away from the rest of Guinness sold here.

Foreign Extra Stout is decent and well made but its just a little too roasty for me. Honestly, I havent drain poured a beer in a long time and it never occured to me this beer could or would be a drain pour.

The Harvest wasn't a drain pour, more like a throat pour-wasn't bad, wasn't tasty.

Not losing sleep over it. Though it was weird though. I still haven't seen it and judging by the responses I will pass it up if I do find it.
