Over the past few months I've noticed that there are some beers that don't show their face in Kalamazoo but are in surrounding areas like Grand Rapids and Battle Creek. Ten Fidy, Narwhal, Warlock, BA Sibierian Night and Wulver specifically. And I'm sure there are more. What gives?

Its always hit and miss with beers here. It is hard to tell sometimes if it is distributors or stores. We missed out on the first run of Lagunitas Sucks a couple years ago because the distributor never placed an order. That is the one confirmed case of that happening but I am not doubting its more common than we'd care to believe.

I have a feeling that some of those 'missing' beers were just very limited in the quantity that was delivered to the store and they were gone before you saw then. :slight_frown:

^^^ This. A few of the bigger stores I go to, the employees are traders and have friends so obviously they get first dibs. Most of the stuff goes around to all of the stores on Tuesday in the AM, so unless you find someone to hold something, it's doubtful you'll find much if any.

You can always come shop on the east side of the state and then you can go back to your beertopia and feel good again.

Wait a minute, aren't you guys getting Bruery beers? That's a pretty good consolation prize in my book!

Yeah but not much of a sour fan here (do enjoy one every so often for something different) so other than Autumn Maple the Bruery beers just haven't been much of a gift. Now hopefully getting some Greenflash stouts and the arrival of Ten Fidy has definitely helped ease the pain.

On a side note, I was wondering if anyone knows the closest place in Indiana to Kalamazoo that sells Three Floyds, looking to seek some out, I know places in Elkhart and South Bend area have it, but is there somewhere closer to the border and 131?

You why as well just drive the extra 30 minutes and get it from the source, get a couple people together time make the trip worthwhile, I'm always down for a FFF's run, there food and beer are both awesome!

Good to hear that their food is good, ya I am planning on going with some of my east side friends to Dark Lord day in 2014. Just wondered where the closest place was. Plus I see they don't have Zombie Dust to go right now and was looking to call around to see if anywhere does.

Probably the closest to Kzoo would be a Chalet Liquors in Middlebury, and the store is about 2 miles south of the Michigan line on the west side of whatever that route number is that goes north out of the downtown area.

Edit: Oops, this is a reply to PaulyB83

Same story from multiple stores and bars/restaurants. Each conversation started with a simple conversation regarding the beer, each location proceeded with the same story without being lead to that direction. The level of consistency was a bit too impressive for me to doubt the story.

I was lucky enough to get some Ten FIDY in St. Joe cause I work there. Didn't see anyone in Kzoo that got any.
