My brother in law will be in chicago on 10-24 - 10-27. What is the best place to get some BCBS, Daisy Cutter IPA and other local goodies?
Granted, this was all the way on page 2 of this forum, but I'd consider any of the stores mentioned here: http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/chicago-beer-shops.120797/
The Beer Temple, West Lakeview Liquors are best bets. The Beer Temple is getting a reputation for always having fresh product.
First off, Daisy Cutter is a Pale, and not too hard to find. Every now and then they get behind on production, but your chances are pretty solid. BCBS, on the other hand, is normally released around Black Friday in Nov. So unless their schedule is way ahead this year, you'll have a hard time finding any of that in Oct.
What are my chances of finding Double Daisy Cutter or Galactic Double Daisy Cutter at the bottle shops mentioned above? Yeah, I'm aware of the BCBS release schedule. Was hoping to find some 2012 BCBS lying around at those shops. We'll see.
Last year i picked up my first four pack on September 21st. DDC has a decent probability of being around. GDDC not so much.
Galactic Double = no chance. It sold out in hours straight from the taproom. I don't think it was even distributed. Double Daisy = possible, it is out right now. There should be some shops that still have it in a few weeks but it may require some hunting around. BCBS = it won't be at any popular shops, some hole in the wall shops may still have it for $30 a 4/pack Binny's South Loop and Lincoln Park are some of the best in terms of overall selection. Beer Temple, West Lakeview, Capone's are all near eachother and have great selections. The Revolution tap room is also near by. Puerto Rico Food & Liquors, Tabbs (Nevada), and Grand & Western are all near each other and have good selections. They all usually have a good selection of Pipeworks too. Noble Grape and Lush are also not far from here. Printers Row Wine, Warehouse Liquors are both in the South Loop and have good selections.
