BA Yeti is not infected. Me and two other BAs have probably had around 60 bottles between the three of us and none have been infected, none. And we all drank some as recently as last week. I have posted in other threads that I will trade CO locals .50 on the dollar for anyone's supposedly infected Yetis. No takers.

Cracked my BA Old Ruffian and it is fantastic, probably the best nose I have ever smelled on a beer. Good carbonation and I think they nailed the mouthfeel, it's thick but not too thick. I will be looking for a case.

I thought about buying one of these because I haven't had one since 2008 but then I thought about the $25 price tag. Then I thought about Firestone Walker 15 being $22 and Abacus and Parabola being $15. Sorry Great Divide but your barrel-aged beers are overpriced. :sunglasses:

No need to apologize, they will have no problem in selling all they produce!

I just find it mildly amazing when a brewery eschews all norms to release a beer at this level of anticipation. They can do it however they want, but it would be interesting to know why, and it would definitely be much better for people to know at least a little ahead of time. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know.

Totally agree and I thought the original batch was great. I just can't justify spending am extra $10 when I think Abacus is superior. More for you guys!

    Isn't GD 750ml vs 22oz for FW?

Indeed. How much is Black Note? $23 for 750ml? I think Great Divide is a bit steep. BA Yeti and BA Old Ruffian should probably be closer to $22-$23 range. But hey it's a free-market and they don't have a problem selling.

There are some BA Yetis that are infected. I'm happy for you that you haven't had one yet. Unfortunately, I did and it tasted like crap and smelled like fermenting garbage. I contacted GD about it and they said that there does seem to be some infected bottles. As hard as I find it to believe that each of you have drank 20 BA Yeti's, That still doesn't mean that there were no infected bottles. Unless I am mistaken, there were a few thousand bottles produced. BTW, who would seriously send you an openned bottle of infected Yeti? I have one bottle left to open. If it is infected I am going to recap it and send it to you in exchange for Odell.

Send it to me now if you are worried that it is infected. I'll gladly send you $13 worth of Odells for it. The number of infected bottles I have heard of seems to be sitting somewhere in the neighborhood of 6. People seem damn sure that it is infected so therefore worthless. Out of the bottles we have drank with varying bottle numbers none have been bad. Yea the bourbon seems to be fading some but no where near infected. I am putting my money where my mouth is and offering something for those supposedly worhtless bottles.

Let's not get off-topic here, there is already an infected BA Yeti thread. Let's not let a few ruin it for the whole. There were a lot of good BA Yeti's out there, and no consistent numbers that were infected, so it is really hard to say without hard evidence from Great Divide's lab testing. I had a bottle# 14 bottles off someone else, mine was great, his wasn't.

BA Old Ruffian should be good, can't wait to try it.

Yes but the price per ounce on the GD is 98 cents per ounce whereas the FW is 68 cents per ounce so the larger bottle doesn't account for the higher price.

Personally would like to see them more around $20 (I agree a bit overpriced). But I still buy a few anyways so they must be doing something I like, and all about supporting quality, local breweries.

I dunno, maybe it's the costly Stranahan's barrels, maybe it's the age (9-months)? Heck, Uncle Jacob's was $1/ounce.

Dry Dock's Bligh's (BA Barley) was only $18 though and I'd much rather drink that.

Blighs was/is one bad ass beer.... hard to imagine BA old Ruff better. But i gotta say Ruffian is probably my favorite Barley wine, never had the BA version..

Sir, this hasn't been one report, it's been a number of people. Dismissing all of their experiences seems...well, let's not go there.

And your offer of $13 worth of locals...well, again, let's not go there. I've never had an infected BA Yeti either, but I'm not about to let the one go I have, because even if half of them are bad, that's a 50/50 chance at a beer that is absolutely world-class. But I'm not about to arrogantly dismiss the fact that a bunch of people have had bad bottles. That would be, well...
