I'm all for a good gateway beer like Fat Tire, 60 Minute, or Dead Guy even if I don't particularly enjoy them anymore (Dead Guy was my first domestic craft brew!), and I appreciate what those kinds of beers bring to the table. They're important to the scene and to its growth, but honestly, I have yet to see anyone really enjoy a sip of this beer, not the seasoned beer vets, not the open-minded beginners, nobody. I'm sure plenty of people like it, I just haven't seen it. The "flat cola with a little chocolate" description someone just used in this thread is spot on.

I don't see too much MKE stuff outside of Milwaukee in liquor stores, but I will keep my eye out for Louie's. But I haven't enjoyed too much of the stuff by MKE brewing, I prefer Lakefront if I'm being honest

They had a small batch of the stout aged for a full year. It was a lot of the same.

83 is not good for a barrel aged beer IMO. I have tried it, it's thin and watered down..certainly not worth what they want for it. In this case, I don't care if it got a 93.

Behind Shipyard's Pumpkinhead, it's probably the craft beer that I see on tap lists that I hate the most. I'm not a big bourbon barrel beer guy to begin with, but like Pumpkinhead, this is a bad beer that has a gimmick flavor profile to mask how awful it is.

Its threads like this that make me hate BA and "the scene" more and more everyday.

I have three left in my fridge and would be happy to send you a bottle (or more).

KBB Stout is ok. KBB Ale is a hot mess and one of the worse beers I have ever tried.

The beers don't rate well, that's for sure, but I have no problem drinking any of their barrel aged offerings. For Kolsch or an English Pale I'd go elsewhere. The biggest beef I have with them is pricing. $13.99 for a four pack of Bourbon Barrel Ale is a little steep IMO, Woodford barrels or not.

KBBA is not good. The Stout is better but not great. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the pumpkin; a little hot but not bad in terms of taste.

I'm completely on board with this. Many of my BMC drinking friends enjoy these beers. For that reason, I value their presence.

I didn't care for MKE much at all until I had the Louie's Resurrection, but that was so good that it's made me take a second look at all their beers.

I like the ale, but need to have fresh. Had a few past the expiration date and they weren't as good. Stout is ok, but wouldn't search it out.

I think I might have to try some of this stuff as I am seeing some people love it and some hate it, which means this is a beer that is quite subjectively viewed. Some beers I have had just are not good, and that's what I was trying to figure out by asking this thread, but if so many people also like it maybe it's worth a try, I just wish I didn't have to buy a whole 4 pack to try it at I think $13

Get the 4 pack. You'll try one of them to decide if it is any good, and then you'll need the second one to confirm your decision.

Shabby attempt at what might have been a good idea. Had it at a brewfest in Cincinnati and the bourbon aftertaste stays with you. If I want that, next time I'll do shot of Wild Turkey. Stay away.

I just opened my bottle and it is great! I know when it was fresh I didn't like it! Its really mellow and has a nice vanilla taste! It sort of smells funky but its not boozy at all. This is my first beer I successfully aged! Damn I opened it hoping to dump it even!

I think the bourbon bourbon barrel ale is only decent. Just tried the stout tonight (against my good judgment) and it was also only decent. I don't desire to ever have
    either one again.

This beer is my kryptonite. I've had it three times over a few years, and each time it effectively ended my night. A lot of people really seem to like it, but it's not for me.

I've had another bourbon barrel stout from them since my first and I may have gotten a bad bottle or something because the second one I had was solid.
