Maybe they should change their name to CraftBeerPrinces...

Those were retail prices, already marked up about 30%

There is no sales tax when selling out of state. They made a HUGE profit on that box.

Mystery boxes are almost always to get rid of old stock. There will be the occasional whale to spread hype but that's about it.

Right, but my point was if you bought those in a store there WOULD have been sales tax. I was comparing what he got for what I would have paid for them in a local store, and it didnt seem like it would have been too far off of $200.

They put an Indian Wells in there? That's just an insult. There are a couple of rad beers in there but overall I agree, you got a little jacked.

Ahh I misunderstood you then. But even at 9% sales tax, the beer comes out to about $178. $200 for that box is pretty damn expensive lol.

By the way, anybody else want one of PeterJs mystery boxes? :grinning:

Edit: I will add this- I've never met Moe but I've been in the business for quite some time and from what people tell me he is a very very nice guy. Glad he's making it right for the OP

High retail for the bottles in that picture is $140 for those 10 beers (low retail is about $120) . Now there very well could have been 2 beers that are $30 each but who knows.

Plus if you buy 12 bombers from them, isnt the shipping free anyway.

Looks like they also offer an IPA Mystery Box, which boggles the mind. Any hopheads around here going to risk that one? (I wonder what the "Indian Wells Whiskey Barrel Amber" equivalent of an IPA would be.)

Caveat emptor. You're better off joining a BIF.

Craftbeerkings looks awesome, but of course they don't ship to the only two states that I have an address in...maybe I know someone in RI who would accept the delivery for my mom to pick up and bring home to MA...

I don't think I would spend $199 on a mystery box of beers. Too much of a gamble. And, whoever is putting together the box is not going to lose money over it, so the value is not there.

Not at all. In most cases, they've sold more beers; taking a small hit per bottle, but a gain in the overall sale. Standard economics.

Having never purchased one of these from moe, I can't comment on the content of the boxes. I have dealt with him via his website and trades. Nothing but good experiences and if moe is putting together the bottles for the mystery box, there's bound to be some solid stuff in there.

I feel bad for the dude who ordered the box and wasn't pleased...I wouldn't be either spending that kind of money, but as expected, moe is making it right.

    Cheers guys

If I ever move somewhere where it is legal to buy beer online, I'll definitely be hitting up Craftbeerkings.

I actually had a poor experience with craftbeerkings.com. They were out of a few things I chose and screwed up my order and offered to save me a Fou Foune to make up for it. Unfortunately I didn't get the guy's name that called me because now they won't believe me and I don't have it in writing. Shame on me for trusting that they'd keep a record of what they told me. So for now I'm boycotting them. I've had much better experiences from other vendors online.
