I've been drinking sours and IPA's like crazy the past couple of months. My tastebuds need a break.

I was wondering if you guys knew of a good mid gravity malty beer that I can find a sixpack of. I might've had what you might suggest.. But maybe someone here hasin't tried what you want to suggest. :d

I was going to recommend this and Ayinger Celebrator. Any good doppelbock, really.

Founders Porter is great too, and definitely malt forward.

    He said "mid gravity."

Again, he said "mid gravity." Granted, Celebrator is low-gravity by doppelbock standards, but most doppelbocks are not going to be mid gravity.

Ommegang Abbey is not a six pack beer and not a mid-gravity beer.

It's been a few years since I had either, but Sierra Nevada Porter and Sierra Nevada Stout probably both fit the bill.

Do you get Pretty Things? If so, St. Botolph's Town is a delicious malt bomb and a very easy to drink 5.9% ABV.

Tyranena Rocky's Revenge is another one. Don't let the title fool you, it's a normal strength sessionable brown ale that's maybe 20% barrel-aged, very mild whiskey presence.

You're a fellow Floridian. Cigar City Maduro Brown! Also, Tocobaga has a great malt profile for an amber.

And if you're in a part of Florida getting Funky Buddha kegs, get some Piti Porter at your neartest bar ASAP. Amazing beer.

I agree with this. I usually gorge on big IPA's, sours and saisons all summer and this time of year I love something crisp, clean and malty and nothing quenches every now and then like a nice Oktoberfest. Mmmm

I dunno about any of the Belgians mentioned, too much yeast character. I never really think of them as malty. Stouts and porters have more roasted grain character, not true maltiness. Stick with wee heavys, Oktoberfest beers, bocks, barleywines, certain ambers, browns, stuff like that.

I live in the Tampa Bay area. And holy shit. We got Cycle, CCB, Rapps, Seven Sun, Dunedin brewery, Barley Mow..Just to name a few.

Maduro was on my mind today, but i've drank so much of it..it is however by far my favorite brown..Tocobaga is amazing too. I'm looking over the suggestions, gonna print up a list and head over to my favorite store. I appreciate the help guys. And I mean, if I can find some of these bombers, and they're not like expensive I'll get em anyhow.
