VA BA's-I need advice for a friend

    Looking for suggestions for a friend in VA.
    She lives in Leesburg and wants to get her husband, who is just starting to get into craft beer, a nice well rounded assortment of local stuff for his birthday.
    So, if you can give me some suggestions of good, locally produced craft that would be much appreciated.
    She did mention that he's not into big IPA's, but does enjoy brown ales. Not to say he won't try and IPA or two.

    I would tell her to go to Total Wine, and say just what you just said about his likes and her goals, and ask them to put together a singles box of Rhino, BC Brau, and Port City. They have empty cardboard cases for just such shopping, have singles shelves, and have guys that know beer as well as the other guys know wine.

    ^this. And as a fellow Leesburg resident, I'd recommend that she take her husband out for a night around the down town area and stop by Fireworks, Crooked Run, MacDowell Brew Kitchen and/or Leesburg Brewing Company. Many of great options to try at each.
