Founders Breakfast Stout in Florida

Quite a bit thinner too, but not in a bad way. Cafe Americana was just incredibly thick. Definitely some similar flavors going on though.

 

Just happy to pick up a couple of 4 packs locally. So tired of hauling them back home after visiting up north. I won't have to ration them out between trips anymore either.

 

Cafe Americana is much better IMO. FBS is living on its past reputation at this point.

 

Why are we comparing this to Cafe Americana? I don't really see the relevance.

 

My ABC store had 5 cases just sitting out in the floor with no limits if anyone is interested. $10.99 a 4 pack. I mixed a bottle with a Rubaeus last night and that was delicious!

coffee stout is the only common thread... agreed... they are apples and oranges otherwise.

Right, and I suppose if Cafe Americana is ever readily available across multiple states on an annual basis I'll see a reason to compare the two. But as is, Cafe Americana was made one time, brewery only, and never bottled. It's not really an option to purchase it over FBS or any other coffee stout, so to me it seems kind if pointless to compare the two.

 

People on here kept saying they thought Founders held back some KBS for Florida for whatever reason... I have no idea why they thought that, other than kegs, it's pretty much not happening until next year for FL.

They didn't get it. FBS, however, probably so. I'm sure you'll find it after the initial rush of the first shipment hits and everyone is over it. It'll be on the shelves till after Christmas.

 

yea It was great at the bar. they said they had 4 kegs of it left. I think I confused the draft list with the bottles that were coming at first. its all straight now. I love to have the RIS myself.

 

There was some...but nowhere near enough to be even worth trying to get.

Bar near me (Tap42) posted this. Last time they did a CCB tap takeover they had Cafe Americana and I stupidly drank other stuff and didn't get a pint of it. I plan to sample it this time:

They have sent it to numerous craft bars. It's not brewery only like this guy likes to pretend.

 

It's definitely not brewery-only as this particular bar has had it on tap at least 2 times that I can remember...

I love coffee beers and want to try them ALL...send 'em this way!

 

Jans in Northdale has a ton of Breakfast stout left. They had 5 cases out on the floor. Well.. make that 4.

 

Yes, some kegs have made it out for special events, etc. It still has never seen a bottle, and is not an annual release. I don't see many scenarios where one has to choose between Cafe Americana or FBS. As of now, it appears it is a one off, much like Moat Water, Life is Like, and many others, except this one wasn't even bottled (sadly).

Moat Water is way better than FBS, i guess i should not buy FBS any more. Is that what we are coming to?
