So GI said that the new sours of theirs were being launched at GABF...so does anyone know how close they are to being on shelves?

I remember hearing last month they should be released this week, so we'll see what happens.

They hung around for a couple weeks on shelves last year.

$20+ bomber prices will do that when it doesn't say "Bourbon County" on the label.

If they hit shelves, there trade forum would already be flooded with iso/ft options. Instead, i hear crickets.

And they're 750s this year. So expect $22ish, I'd guess.

They are still sitting on shelves.

    Obligatory beer menus links...
    Madame Rose 1: http://www.beermenus.com/beers/goose-island-madame-rose-2012
    Madame Rose 2: http://www.beermenus.com/beers/goose-island-madame-rose
    Lolita: http://www.beermenus.com/beers/goose-island-lolita
    Juliet 1: http://www.beermenus.com/beers/goose-island-juliet
    Juliet 2: http://www.beermenus.com/beers/goose-island-juliet-2012

And that's just the shops on beer menus. I'm sure you can find them at lots of other small shops.

New (2013) sours should be hitting soon! Let's all hope they stick around a bit. Their price tags "should" keep them around (They should be in 765ml bottles and pricier than before). The real question will be how much was produced and will be available. That's going to drive the market.

What sours, pray tell, do you see of that nature just sitting around?

I get that no one wants $20 bombers of Juliet, just ask Lakeview Binny's.

Most of those in Chicago are restaurants, and a few of those liquor stores I know for a fact are lying just to get you in the door.

So go update the page then. I'd assume that people would call before making a special trip somewhere.

Last year's sours are still out there if you look a bit, which means it's hopeful that you'll be able to find this year's fairly easily once the initial rush dies.

Yes that I agree with, I was seeing GI sours on plenty of shelves last spring, they do stick around for a bit.

I always hate the GI site whenever I try and find useful information on it. It's like they don't want information on new stuff out there.

Anyhow, here's the links for Halia and Gillian:
    Halia http://www.gooseisland.com/pages/home/355.php
    Gillian http://www.gooseisland.com/pages/home/356.php

Edit: Jesus Fucking Christ, Goose Island. I think your copywriter needs a bit more pretension in that Gillian description:
Inspired by an amuse bouche often prepared by the wife of one of our brewers, Gillian brings white pepper, strawberry, and honey to a harmonious blend. Partially aged in wine barrels, this Belgian style farmhouse ale is slightly tart and pleasantly sweet in a refreshingly effervescent body.

I've heard much more gaudy descriptions from other breweries.
Though an amuse bouche is simply a single bite hors d'oeuvre; with no specifics as to what the dish was like, I think that descripter is pretty useless.

But, now looking at the GI website, as I do every now and then, why is BCBS only on the schedule for the month of November? They're cutting distribution down to a single month now? It was a solid 3 months last year (September to January).
    http://www.gooseisland.com/pages/2013_beer_availability_calendar/266.php

And the Barleywine is no longer on the schedule, hehe, but I swear it goes on and off that beer calender every couple weeks; they can't decide whether to release it or not???

GI sours? All I would like is the Clybourn Flanders Red to be bottled and distributed. Madame Rose is alright, but not as good.

Yeah, but the term is normally used for a free little bonus that a chef may provide at a restaurant, not any single-bite hors d'oeuvre. So, is the wife a chef at some restaurant somewhere?

That's where the pretension comes from: using a stupid fancy term (incorrectly) when something much more clear would have been easier to understand... and more appropriate :slight_frown:

And if it is "free" (nothing is free in a restaurant for anyone) - It is one bite and comes before any course of the meal is served.

Regardless.... I've wondered, are the "sours" from GI all released in the same amount of cases? Or do they produce more Juliet than Madame? Or r r ?
