PSM is awesome and Black and Blue is underappreciated bc it's made by dfh.

Dogfish Head often takes the road less traveled and makes some interesting and unique brews. This makes them a polarizing brewery for many but they only add to the diversity in styles so take it for what its worth. On a personal note, I really love Palo Santo.

I think their Sixty-One is super delicious, as well as their Burton Baton. They are great for what they are as a company, not one good/bad beer.

In my opinion, it's generally the lower-tier that has to do crazy things to get noticed. Top-tier is for those who brew a variety of styles exceptionally well. Any crazy stuff is just a bonus.

I'm not a huge DFH fan, though I can understand why others are and am not meaning to say I think they're an inferior brewery. But outside of their IPAs, I can't remember seeing something halfway normal like a hefeweizen or porter unless it was brewed with ginger or molten lava or something.

They don't brew anything that I really like except for Namaste, and i'd hesitate to call it great.
But I'm not gonna go and start a thread about it.

As much as I dislike DFH from the past three years, they changed the game fifteen years ago and are a big part of why I love beer. Palo Santo Marron, Indian Brown, Aprihop, Chicory Stout, Squall, 90 min., Raison d'Etre, WWS, Hellhound, and 120 min. are all legends and were huge inspirations to changing the game. Now, they're all a bit bland, but once upon a time they were the best. Anybody that says otherwise hasn't been around long enough. Don't talk down to a legend, boy.

Your opinion carries such weight. Some beers that many others enjoy didn't tickle your fancy, so you had to make a hate-thread about it, attempting to garner some support for your negativity, because...you are so productive and a facilitator of greatness, and obviously a better brewer/businessman than Sam. Thank you for making humanity that much better as a whole for entertaining your banal thoughts of scorn.

I get your point, but respectfully disagree when it comes to these guys. I'm usually the first to pooh-pooh a marketing gimmick. I'd find the "off-kilter" approach a lot less appealing if their beers weren't so damn good. If they can make a beer brewed with grape must that delicious, I don't really mind if they've bothered to master some traditional adjunct lager or something.

Not the best analogy - but no one seemed to mind that Porsche didn't make an SUV back when they only made crazy rear/mid-engined sports cars.

My least favorite from DFH was by far Aprihop, but I generally like their offerings. I agree completely that their beers can be polarizing, and that the moon dust thing is just way off the script. But I like the ancient ales and the work that goes into discovering, researching, and creating them even if some of them are weird. Palo Santo is an all time favorite, Burton Baton pretty close, and I really dig Midas Touch. Namaste is a staple, and as much as I generally dislike them I find their pumpkin at least palatable. I think they are upper tier.

I'd say Palo Santo is great and Burton Baton is pretty close to great. I happen to like their IPAs, and I think Bitches Brew is pretty solid. Theobroma is really good too even with all it's weirdness. I also love Punkin. It's one of my favorite pumpkin beers. I also really like Festina Peche, even though it's not that great as far as BWs go.

So yeah, DFH is a good brewery, even though they make some beers I don't like. That's their thing, they make a bunch of weird beers that not everyone will like.

Nah, I get you. If I really enjoyed their stuff, we'd be in complete agreement. But since I find it to be just ok, I kinda wish they made a normal beer that I could form an opinion about. Then I could say "Well, they make a killer ESB, I just don't dig the random stuff they throw in." Or whatever.

90 min, 61, palo santon, red & white, immortale, etc I love DFH and don't see the hate at all if you don't like them because they are different then you must enjoy drinking the same shit over and over and over......

^^^ THIS! I would also say 90min is very tasty. I love to grab some of this from time to time, usually in the Summer months. Can't wait for WWS to show up again someday...

Punk'n is IMO the absolute best pumpkin beer out there and it isn't close.

Indian Brown is possibly the most versatile brown ale ever brewed.

Chicory Stout is vastly underrated, as is Festina Peche.

60 Minute has more often than not 'saved me' when encountered with a beer wasteland. On tap it's a top 10 IPA for me.

So yes, they make plenty "great" as far as I'm concerned.

I just drain poured one that I've been holding on to for 1.5 years. Wanted to see if it would be less of an alcohol bomb. Nope.

I do like their Festina Peache though.
