I added a sheet to the bottleshare google doc aimed at putting up ISOs for things that you want someone to make an effort to bring for trading purposes, preferably with prearranged trades.

For instance, I saw Houser is bringing Mad Elf and I thought "man, I keep telling my friends in CA how they should try Mad Elf, but I keep missing out on it when I get back to PA; I'd really like to bring some bottles back." Therefore, I put up an ISO for Mad Elf beside my name. To the right is a comments/notes field where someone can type something, presumably a name, to let others know that they're trying to work something out.

We can add columns with Name/FT/comments in the same vein. I figure that this should make it easy to set up BMs here about trades to work out details while avoiding messaging people individually until it's clear that they're interested in working something out. Basically, I wanted something more central than BMs and less central than cluttering up this awesome thread and I went with that. If people hate the idea, feel free to delete the tab.

I know we talked about a bottle swap. I propose something to supplement the idea or perhaps add to the occasion.

Not sure if anyone has every done this at a work Christmas party but I've participated in a couple games where everyone brings in a gift (in our case bottle) that is wrapped up and valued at no more than a certain dollar amount (say $20). All the bottles are then placed on a table, each person that brings a bottle gets a number. Starting from 1 and going up to the last person, each person has a choice. Either pick a bottle from the table or steal a bottle someone else has in their possession. A bottle can only be stolen 3 times before it is out of play. This goes on until the last person either picks the last bottle or steals someone elses.

Could be a fun idea. Thoughts?

Was there alcohol involved at your work Christmas party?
We've tried this at family reunions, and it generally degrades into anarchy.
I was thinking about a blind bottle swap, but it seems like there may already
be a lot of trading going on.

Just wondering, are there people out there on the fence about this that haven't
signed up on the google doc?

We're at 11 or 12 now with room for another 8-10. If there is a bunch more
people thinking about it, we might have to find a bigger place.
Sandman--do you think you're going get Cuzco to tag along? It is all his fault, after all.
    Smoncie, you in?

Of course there was alcohol involved. Is does get a bit crazy when the alcohol gets thrown into the mix. Everyone is trying to go for the alcohol and forgoes the rest of the crap. Makes it fun though. I'll be down for whatever though.

Smonice is definitely coming (not sure why he hasn't chimed in yet). We'll be carpooling or taking the train. Not sure which yet.

I'd say there is a chance Nate might come. Wouldn't be surprised if CTJman came too.

    Cool--
Work on Cuzco, there is still 2 1/2 months to convince him.
He needs to see what he has created.

In a week or so I'll be brewing my first batch of all grain bourbon barrel porter in my newly acquired Braumeister. Up until now I've just been doing extract. Should be ready in time for the event. Hopefully it tastes decent.

Nice---we might have to have a separate homebrew tasting competition.
It looks like there could be at least 3 or 4 to choose from.

It would be better if you just came and brought them with you,
but that's very cool of you to offer.
I'll BM you a shipping address to use if you do send something.
