Or what's your experience w/ wine. My father would always announce once year at my house how he didn't like wine; which is the only time he ever had it.

Wine is not my style at all.

(with tongue-in-cheek allusion to your avatar character's ultra-patriotism...) you might want to consult what america's so-called "founding fathers" thought about port, madeira and bordeaux...

People with relevant experience with both beer and wine interest me the most with this thread. I have more wine experience (certainly professionally) but I have been extolling the virtues of beer mostly the last 2 years or so. People with a personal stake in one or the other don't interest me as much.

I'm sorry I haven't provided you an interesting post to read. I would have prepared something for your enjoyment perhaps had I known you were coming. The sign on the door here read "Beer Advocate" if I'm not mistaken. Look hard enough and maybe you'll find the one that reads "People With Personal Stakes in both Beer and Wine that Might Interest Me Advocate." Good luck.

i drink much more beer than wine but i have found a-grade examples of both to be equally exceptional. i also like the influence of wine barrels and grapes on well-made sours (see Captain Lawrence). cheers.

Dude the subject of the OP is clearly comparing beer and wine so if you have little to zero interest in wine what can you contribute to the conversation? There are literally hundreds of non wine related posts on BA. You have options.

Beer. And the occasional bottle of port.

Yesterday I went to a wine tasting that was held at a small, local distributor's warehouse. I drank some wines that blew my mind and surpassed most beers I've ever had in terms of quality.

However, these wines cost about at least $40/bottle for the really great ones.
Now today, out of curiosity, I tried the $3 Trader Joe's wine, and I'd honestly rather have a PBR.

In contrast, I can get an amazing beer like Jai Alai for 10.99/six pack. That's why beer is my beverage of choice.

It's "vino vs beer". What'd you winerboys expect? If ya don't wanna read people's comments, then don't start conversations by quoting them in the first place. What's with people on this site today. Everyone's team lost today or something? Damn. Well my team won, so wooot!

On a post requesting a comparison between beer and wine we want just that. You've added nothing useful to this post.
Many folks on BA are at least not hostile to wine (some are big fans btw) and are therefore capable of posting useful comments in regard to this topic.

Exactly, any input not wine is by superior seems invite the assertion that said poster's tastebuds/opinions are stunted & or just straight up ignorant. Go Sox!

Again...If you don't like the comments then don't keep quoting and thereby pullinging the person back into the thread. I'm going leave the thread now and place you on ignore. It's the right thing to do. I've only done that one other time in three years. And for the record, you've added nothing informative to me in this thread either. You should have tried to excite me about wine, but you chose to "wine" about it. Have a good one, whatever you may consider that to be.

I would take wine with food any day over beer, usually. At this point, the refinement/availability of beer just doesn't cut it. Hopefully at some point it can get to "that level" and diversity, but I don't see it. That being said, I enjoy the opportunity to toss it in on occasion when it's appropriate.

Crap wine vs. good beer? Beer wins easily. If we're going for good and great examples of beer and wine, well, let's eliminate the "vs". I'd rather they not fight.

Beer and wine are both good. Wine is more expensive but you don't need as much. 375 ml (12.7 ounces) of wine is plenty to go with a good meal.
