Smoked Porters?

Now you need to try all the rest from Schlenkerla! They're all fantastic in their own way.

I have yet to get my hands on a smoker Porter or stout. Does the smoke take over everything else in the beer?

 

I recently drank my Alaskan Smoked Porter 2005-2012 vertical (not all at once). Best bottles were 4-5 years old, though not much better than a 2 year old bottle. The fresh one was the lowest scored, though still tasty.

 

Smoke jumper. Its like a campfire smoke bomb. Awesome stuff

 

If you can find it, there is a Great Lakes / Deschutes collaboration Imperial Smoked Porter that is out now. Had a bottle last night and it was pretty damn smoky, definitely smokier that the Stone Smoked Porter.

 

Haven't found too many porters that I thought were balanced. They always seem like way too much smoke. However, if you are looking for balance, I felt that the Ranger Creek Mesquite Smoked Porter was great!

 

Epic(UTAH) Smoked Porter is really nice, not overwhelmingly smooky, a nice balance.

 

I picked up a bottle of it on Friday in OK City, it'll disappear this afternoon.

 

Swamp heads smoke signal just got bottled. That stuff is incredible

 

Everything I have had from them is excellent.

 

If done correctly, no. It still tastes like beer, but...smokey! Ha, kind of hard to describe I suppose. I have had a handful of smoked beers over the years, in various different styles and all have been quite wonderful.

 

I like them if the smokiness is subtle. I've had a few that taste like pure smoke, which I find disgusting.
