Probably a dumb question, but have I missed this in Charlotte yet? It's one of the few barrel aged stouts I still really enjoy.

Some quick calls around the Triangle have it out of stock around here, unfortunately.

Charlotte got a shipment in early last week and most of the shops were sold out within a few hours. I believe it came in on Tuesday, if I remember correctly.

Actually, I was just at Brawley's and he still has a case of it. Granted, this is Brawley so there's still a good chance he won't sell it to you anyway haha. Don't mention that I (or anyone) told you he had it.

Also, while you're there grab a bottle each of the Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary ales from 2010. There's a stout and a blackberry barleywine version.

The taproom in Hickory still had bottles on Friday, but no idea if they're still around.

The vibe of someone who loves good beer, wants to share good beer with other people, and want others to get the same chance that I get to drink good beer?

I wasn't aware that you are on this forum, but it's not news that you withhold beers from people who don't shop there often. You've even literally said that to me when I first started shopping there frequently. I don't apologize for calling the sky blue.

On that note, I have spent a lot of money supporting you. If you want to hold this against me, that's your business (literally).

"withhold beers who don't shop there often". This is truly a phrase that needs to be inspected closely. Why would you (one800higgins) expect a proprietor to not take care of his very best customers, who DO "shop there often"? That folks consider retail business to be some sort of democracy is getting to be comical. When items are severely allocated by brewery and wholesaler, it necessarily follows that retail sales will be also. Simple to understand. Brawley is phenominal at selection and customer service. Simple to see.

Let's take a step back. Brawley's business practices don't bother me, and I agree that he is a stand up dude providing great customer service to his customers. I wouldn't shop there so often if I didn't feel that way. I am simply stating that I know the business practices regarding people he doesn't know and pointing them out to someone within this forum who's looking for a specific rare beer that he missed out on.

My crime? Sharing my personal knowledge and pointing a customer (potentially new) to Brawley to spend money on a beer he wants.

So, pitchforks down. I'm not saying anything negative… Just helping a fellow beer drinker out.

Fine. Peace on all fronts. Brawley runs his place and he's fair. There's just so much good beer available at every moment that all of the angst about the "really" limited ones is to my old jaded head a touch silly. Cheers one800higgins!

Agreed. You just have to keep an ear to the ground and get in early if you want those releases!

Higgins, having been on BEER ADVOCATE since 2004 and having delt with so many negative threads attacking our policy of taking care of our regulars before taking care of people who buy most of there beer at other shops makes it hard to see your original post as an endorsement, but I will take you at your word. I hope nothing in my original post lead you to believe I would hold supporting us in any way, including as a customer. Our policy of customers first is not only fair but encourages patronage. If you knew how many folks come here only to buy stuff like the beers you purchased yesterday, beers unavaible elsewhere, it would make your head spin. On BA its typically called "cherrypicking". Thanks for your support. Sorry I took your original post the wrong way. Look forward to seeing you soon.
