First time poster, long time reader - ha.

Headed to Bloomington on the 30th to spend a few days with family and am looking for some insight as to any bottle shops and taprooms to check out.

I live in the PDX, OR area and kind of a beer nerd so I was hoping to find a place with a great selection of midwest and east coast crafts, maybe even a spot that might have some vintage bottles up for sale. Would love to get my hands on some Sixpoint, KBS, Founders, etc; stuff I can't normally find out here. Big IPA and stout fan.

Additonally, if anyone is in the Bloomington area and would like to do a bottle trade, let me know - my tiny modest collection includes: 2008 Stone Russian, 08-12 Stone Vertical, 2012 barrel aged Old Rasputin, '12 espresso and regular stone russian, '11 Cascade Vlad, '09 BCBS (good luck getting that one out of my hands), '12 NoLi Wrecking Ball, '07 Lagunitas Brown Shugga, '10 Mad River BarleyCorn, '12 Stone mint chocolate stout, '12 Elysian Great Pumpkin, Fort George barrel aged Cavatica Stout, Laurelwood Megafauna - just to name a few. Could also pick something up from somewhere here in town if that interests you.

Cheers in advance ladies and gents

This pretty much sums it up. The Sahara Mart on 3rd has more vintage bottles than the other location, but both are great. The Big Red locations on College Mall (by the Kroger) and College (across from Smallwood) have a pretty good selection. For me, Yogi's takes a slight edge to The Tap since the people at Yogi's actually know their stuff and you can get legitimate food there. The Tap updates their draft menu every day so you can check it out before you go.

If you're looking for bottles to take back you forgot 3 Floyds. Sun King Osiris is a pretty good Pale and Flat 12s Half Cycle is a decent IPA. Daredevil makes a really good IPA and DIPA but as of right now they are only available on draft and they are usually at The Tap. You can get Founders, Bell's, and SixPoint in the bottle shops. Bell's Expedition Stout may be out then also - I know it's listed as coming soon at The Tap.

The other advantage that Yog's has over The Tap is you can get 5 ounce pours.

Yes, I did forget 3 floyds. I'm hoping I can find some variety of their beers while I'm there. Do you guys know of any place that might have varieties of BCBS by the bottle (ridiculously hard to find out here, I've found)? By the sounds of it, I'll be somewhat mobile and able to travel outside of the area a bit - any places (breweries, shops, etc) within an hour or less I should be mindful of?

Big thanks for all the information everyone - and again if there are bottles that you seek out here in PDX that you would like me to grab for you, let me know.

And... jumping on the thread you cannot go wrong with any of the places (The Tap, Yogi's, etc) mentioned or breweries.

From Daredevil, since it was mentioned, we (yes I'm the Shane at Daredevil) ship Lift Off IPA in 16 oz/4 packs during your visit and you should find it locally at stores in Btown while it lasts. Otherwise you can find our brews at all the places mentioned usually.

We expect to see Lift Off IPA 16 oz/4 pks in the $9.99 to 10.99 range depending on the location. There is no MSRP really it's up to the location how they mark up the products.

Shane - do you guys have distro in the PDX area? I will look for LiftOff but I am to assume Rip Cord won't be available in stores while I am in Bloomington?

We are only packaging Lift Off IPA to start and we are only in Indiana at this time for draft and package -- no Portland, Oregon, etc. But I bet there are people that will trade you ! ..... otherwise our beers will continue to be on draft (eg Rip Cord, etc)

Anyone have a Dark Lord, a couple Apocolypse Cow's, or Zombie Dust's they would want to trade while I am in Bloomington?

Yogi's was pretty good last night. Upland harvest and dreadnaught.
Any of the big red's better than the other? Hoping to find some harvest, three Floyd's and some victory dirt wolf.

    Appreciate the help

I had great luck at the Big Red's downtown (across from Smallwood) for Harvest and FBS. They have a huge selection of most stuff actually, and be sure to head into the walk-in fridge in the back to find more six packs. Sahara on 2nd and Walnut is where I found dirt wolf and a decent selection of 3F - be sure to check near the check-out counter at that Sahara as that is where I found ZD at 2 bottle limit. Didn't have a chance to make it to the other Sahara Mart location but am told it was where I should have gone.
