    So,

I somehow was just able to get a keg of this. 1/6 keg, I'm around $300, and it's a several hour drive to pick up.

Is this a standard/good rate to pay for the keg?

I just want to make sure it's good value, I might save it for a few years. Also, will it age well in the keg?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I bought a keg of 2010 in 2011 for about that much (with tax and deposit) so it's in the right ballpark. And yes, age is always good with BCS, but you've already got a year on it .

dude if you're lucky maybe and just maybe someone will consider trading a BA Vanilla DL. Don't get your hopes up though.

It doesnt have the same cult following as bcbs...but I got a 1/4 bbl of Cental Waters BB Scotch ale for right around $150 (the GI is priced that high due to demand, its obviously cheaper for the brewery that packaging up all those 4 packs)
But its a great beer and if you were looking at barrels then the extra cash prolly dosent matter that much...I guess if you can I'd pull the trigger (just my 2 cents)

I too just got a keg of the 2012 BCBS. I paid $250 w/o deposit/tax in MA. I was planning on tapping it for December of this year and hopefully next year as well. Would there be any issues with drinking half and then letting it sit for a year before opening it again?

Would definitely not recommend doing this. Not sure what type of draft system you'll be using, but even at a higher pressure there's no good way to keep a partial keg and I'd be scared to risk a keg like BCBS.

why would it matter? your not adding any o2 to the keg , it should be fine. Ive had mine on tap for 8 months and I take it off frequently to clean the line/faucet.

Keeping it on and just untapping for cleaning isn't a big deal, but I don't think pouring part of it and then waiting a year for the rest makes sense. Maybe if you put a good amount of pressure on it before untapping, but I'd be worried about it for sure.

43 cents an ounce seems fair to me, I have paid $1.00 a ounce for it before. Congrats!

I've brewed many stouts that put on tap for a bit then take off if I feel like it needs more time. If your not putting a party pump/tap on it and introducing oxygen into the keg nothing is going to happen to it. But why not just pick up a couple bottles and save the keg.

Putting more pressure into the keg is possibly the worst thing you could do. You'll just end up with a fizzy over-carbed beer.
