Not my favorite of the Smokestack Series, but I am curious to compare it with a 2011 from the cellar.

My first year trying it and it was good, but seemed a bit hot to me. How does it compare to past years?

My place just got a case from our distributor Friday. We cracked one open, and it's definitely for the whiskey drinkers out there. That flavor is pretty dominant. It got better as it breathed and warmed up though. The cherries add a nice tartness to the finish too.

Interesting that this is hard to find in some places, while in the Bay Area the smokestack series in general sits on shelves. I grabbed one the first day available, there are still bottles of it around 3 weeks later , not to mention saison Brett and Love Child #3. Not sure why, they are excellent beers IMO.

Was about to say the same for BBQ in the KC area. Haven't seen Saison Brett in quite awhile, but I'll see the occasional Love Child No. 3 as well.

Got a bottle of this in a trade, looking to put a few months on it before I pop it open. Hopefully it will smooth out some.

I would say this is more than ready to drink now. I got no alcohol taste at all. Kind of one dimensionally bourbon but not in a way that I think will change over time. That is just how the beer tastes. It's a quad, not a stout, the flavor does not change in the same way.

Really? Have you had their smokestack series? Love Child, 4th Glass, Tank 7, and BBQ are all outstanding beers.

Sixth Glass, but I feel the need to add Rye-on-Rye onto your list.
