For NG, that's borderline price gouging. $8.69 at Woodman's in La Crosse.

Too rich for my blood, I'm afraid. As much as I love most New Glarus beers, I've struggled with some of their darker, stronger beers (a thumbprint sticke alt comes to mind). I found Anniversary Ale cloyingly sweet; with viscous mouth feel and heavy body. Did I mention sweet? I hate to criticize my homestate heroes, but there it is... I searched the cupboards in vain in an attempt to find some foods that would help me enjoy this beer. I'm glad I tried it, but for $7, it would have been nice to share my bottle with 3-4 other people. The pint was more than I could enjoy. Wish I picked up a 6 of Moon Man instead, for just another $2.12. Ah, well, I give them credit for trying, but at heart, I am a lover of their more sessionable offerings.

Despite what some of the recent releases would suggest, the Thumbprint series is not geared towards the casual craft drinker. It's people who are buying this by the case that are going to make this the best selling. Unlike Winter Warmer, which can still be found, I'll be surprised if this is widely available long after Imperial Weizen rolls in. Certainly this site has grown and created more hype over the years, but in almost five years I can't recall an Unplugged/Thumbprint beer receiving hype anywhere near this. Iced Barleywine and the recent Berliner Weiss are closest in my memory. The only concern I have is the amount of time it took to create this beer. Hopefully, NG anticipated a positive response and has more waiting for next year.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion! I agree though, Moon Man is a definitely a great beer! Very sessionable.

Has anyone heard if there was less of the wild sour made? My buddy went to Woodmans West yesterday and bought the last 5 4-packs. An employee said there wasn't anymore in back. I'm guessing there could be more delivered at a later date but was just curious if less of this was made.

I doubt less was made. If it's the same quantity as the other Thumb Print series and the demand for the Wild Sour Ale is higher than the others...well maybe it will disappear sooner. But I'm sure Woodmans will receive more. In fact at the Brewery it was sold out when I was there and it should be today that they will have more at their depot.

The question is that since this is a wild sour which takes more time to make from conception to the bottle, did they just naturally make less of it or did they amp up production to normal Thumbprint levels? If its the latter, well we all ought to keep drinking Spotted Cow to support these projects!

Either way I'm going to get some more. If the world ends and I'm the last person on earth, at least I'll have my Wild Sour Ales.

Just went to Woodmans in Kenosha. Plenty of wild sour and strawberry rhubarb there.

Does anyone have any insight on the Nov-Dec Thumbprint Release? Would like to see a big stout come out from NG at some point....winter seems perfect!
