The Brew Dogs show is highly entertaining but there is a fair amount of information content in the shows as well. For example, in episode 2 I learned that the headbrewer of Anchor Brewing (Mark Carpenter) has been brewing craft beer since 1971 which I think is pretty amazing. There was lots of other great information content related to Anchor Brewing:

    · Cluster hops are ‘old’ American hops
    · The ‘old’ Anchor brewery had coolships on the roof of the building
    · Etc.

I will grant that the majority of the show is for entertainment (and it is indeed entertaining) but there is some informational content as well.

I look forward to episode 3!

    Cheers!

I just finished the first episode (Stone/train). After reading all the negative comments, I didn't expect much but I actually found the show entertaining.

Haven't heard many genuine Scottish accents, but does it seem like the hosts are trying to talk slower than natural so they can be understood?

Overall it's a decent show. Something to have on, to DVR. Not necessarily can't miss programming.

Didn't realize it untill I read your post but I think you may be right. If you watch some of their online vids they can be a bit hard to understand at times.

All in all I enjoy the show and look forward to the rest of the season and hope it spawns more like it to come.
    Cheers.

Ok...decided to try some Brew Dog brews (5 AM Saint, Hardcore IPA). Not bad...but not great either. 5 AM Saint was pretty decent for a Red Ale...kind of a spiceness to it that made it stand out...nice use of hops and malt...great color. Hardcore IPA was way too sweet...no balance and little of the hop taste/aroma I expect from an IPA...so bad I couldn't finish it and had to drain pour.

The exposure is good for the craft beer world and I'm totally digging the show, but after the hype of the TV show dies down these guys need to get back to basics and start actually brewing beer on the next level vs. just getting by and relying on hype and media.

Another note on the show...I get the feeling that every time they brew one of the crazy beers lined up for the show then get to the segment of finally serving it up to the masses for judgement that every beer will be a "DRINK IT" vs. a "DUMP IT". It would give some credibility to the show if one of those crazy beers sucked and the people they served it to actually said the truth about it sucking. Instead that portion of the show feels like a Sam Adams commercial where people rave about a last resort beer.

Show's entertaining enough - I find the whole mini segment of the show where 2 Scottish gents come to America to convert people to craft beer to be absolutely absurd though.

I like it well enough but how much I like it depends a lot on the city. I enjoyed the San Diego episode, thought the San Fran episode was pretty boring.

There seems to be way too much American elitism in this thread. What, because they are Scottish they can't try to convert people to craft beer? These guys are well respected brewers themselves and put out some great beers.
And a hell of a lot more entertaining than any hosts of any show i have seen on the air about drinking or beer. And never once in the 4 episodes I have seen so far have they themselves mentioned their own brewery or tried to promote their own beer. They are here promoting craft beer and America's greatest breweries and beers and trying to turn as many people onto craft beer as possible. Isn't that what being a "beer advocate" is all about?

The show gets better each time I watch it. You learn a little bit about the locations they are shooting as well as some insight into the great breweries (in my opinion) they feature.
My stout-loving, hop-hating trophy wife also loves it. We'll sit down with our different beers on the couch and laugh together.

I like the show. I like some of the cool "mad scientist" stuff they do to make the beers (collecting fog, extracting pure caffeine in solid form, etc). The guys are funny as long as you don't take them, craft beer, or yourself (as a beer geek) too seriously. It's beer!

Denver episode was the most boring so far I think, was disappointed they named new belgium the #1 brewery from Denver, but expected it.

Was to busy drinking beer to pay attention to the exact wording, but in prior episodes, I could've swore they disclaimered their top#5 was in no particular order. Agreed, New Belgium is good, but they would no longer be in my Top 5 for that area, not even sure they would crack the top 10.

Why the hell did I ever move from the CO????
