Map/List of States/Countries

    Hey guys,

    Love the site. I have been coming here for years, but just recently started rating beers I have here.

    On the little user description that pops up, it shows how many US states and countries are included in the various beers a user has ranked.

    For now I am only at 14/9, but as I get closer to all 50 states, my OCD will kick in and I will want to figure out how to complete my beer tour of the country. Is there any way of finding out what is included in those numbers besides clicking on each individual brewery listed? Or what would be even cooler (and probably much harder) would be to show a map of the US and/or world indicating which places you have drank from.

    Tell the truth, if you had 47 states showing, wouldn't you be curious what beers you need to keep an eye open for to hit the final 3?

    This has definitely been requested a number of times and I believe that Todd stated it would be considered in the full site redesign (at least making the list of states/countries available as a part of the expanded stats).

    Personally, I suffer from that same OCD so I started a spreadsheet early on to track the states I have had beers from and I only need to find 3 more to complete the 50 + DC... I'm still searching for Alabama, Arkansas, and South Dakota on my travels.

    FYI - Dogfish Head does not count for Delaware.

    I sat here at work the one day with a US map highlighting each state I had because like you just mentioned I'm at 46... So, I was marking them off and I got to 46, I was missing Wyoming, both Dakota's and Arkansas. Few days ago I realized that I have had Wyoming and I just missed it when I was marking them off. So to answer your question for me since I'm trying to get all 50 I was curious.

    What about Puerto Rico, Guam, US VI, DC? Are there about 3 others I'm forgetting? :astonished:

    That would be a nice thing to have built in on here. I just keep track of the states I still need in my profile right now.

    That is great to hear - it was not the most obvious thing to figure out and it caught a lot of people in not understanding which states they were missing.

    I include Washington DC in with the states (as does BA when computing it)... Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands are all classified as separate countries not states and thus computed in that total (personally I have only tried the US Virgin Islands as I have not come across any beers from Guam or Puerto Rico nor have I visited them).

    I figured it was safe to talk about OCD in this venue. Anyone that ranks every beer they try is going to have some of the same compulsions as me. I will cross my fingers that it shows up in a future redesign.

    Todd: is that a picture of you in your profile? If so, I am impressed to find another ST fan out there . . . there aren't that many of us.

    Back to the OP ...

    We plan on introducing more member stats within the site redesign, including a breakdown of what states/countries you've tried beers from and visited and associated lists.
