I still am unsure what all the hype is about with Mikkeller; yes they have made a couple pretty good beers, but the vast majority of them are pretty forgettable but still somehow priced like theyre liquid gold.

Playing the devil’s advocate here. Mikkeller & Evil Twin have to pay double export costs. Even if the beer is brewed where you live, export costs needs to be made for export to Denmark & back to where you live. Even if the beer doesn’t physically move, lots of legal nonsense involved here if I am not mistaken. Plus you are paying for basically an export from one of the most expensive beer countries in the world. All of these add a lot on top of the price. The cost of Mikkeller in Belgium is more or less the cost of a normal craft beer in Denmark. This is not even keeping in mind that they have higher costs than most breweries.

If you think that Mikkeller & Evil Twin are expensive, try buying a beer from Ægir.
They are from Norway (taxes) & they basically have to pay for an Island. Still these guys are expensive for even Norwegian standards. If you buy them in Norway you basically need to cough up like 22 $ for a basic Pale Ale.

I heard part of the reason is because they actually bought a freaking island. Check out their website, you can stay at their hotel.

I'm curious as to why this was brewed in Belgium? If it's coming straight to the US, why not just brew it in OK?

Isn't this brewed with Brettanomyces yeast?

Because I was in Belgium. It's not a good answer, but as an American Brewer that likes Belgian beers, it was a big deal to me.

Just picked up a bottle of this for $12.99 in Columbus, OH. I wouldn't call that overpriced for a beer, let alone a Mikkeller / Prairie collaboration.

I picked up a bottle for $8.99. Not a bad price at all. Really solid beer too.

    Danes and Okies IPA...

I love most Mikkeller brews and have a so-so experience (only a few brews so far - some great, others: well...) with Prairie, but I just may have to check this one out if I see it around Colorado Springs...

    Could be interesting...
