Surly Darkness Day 2013

How does bottle share work? Is there an area near the front people meet? The past 4 years I have just drank my beers with my immediate friends that I have been in line with.

 

Walk down towards the main gate/entrance area to the brewery, you'll see tables setup or a truck in Lobo's case. Set your bottle down and pick one up and pour a small amount to try, or last year I basically walked with my bottle or growler in hand and offered it to random people and then they returned the favor usually.

 

Anyone interested in trying the Town Hall Manhattan Barrel from this last BA week? I have a growler I've been sitting on and figured this would be a great time (if any) to open it up to see how it's tasting. Plus, one of those that are very difficult to drink with only a few people.

I was hoping you'd bring a bottle of Haywire to share.

 

Hell yes (or something more graphic). I have three growlers I'll be bringing that'll get passed around plenty as well.

I'm feeling pretty good that an awesome BA is going to get a bottle for me! I hope everyone has a fun time!

 

I opened mine at the Side Project Brewing Release and it was frigging awesome! It had a big hiss and was delicious. I had it in my fridge since elliot1184 traded it to me. Thanks Mike; that was one of my favorite brews of 2013.

Where is the best place to park if you don't plan on staying the night?

 

There's plenty of parking in the neighborhood nearby. I'll be winging it too. Looks like work got the best of me I can't stay the night. May come back around 2:30-3 and see if I can't get bottles at 3:30 or just crack some of my 2012 Darkness at home at my party Saturday night (which was going to hopefully have 2013 Darkness...)

 

Might have to stop at Casanovas for a growler of Speedway Stout... They also just put some more Sue on!

 

Bottle share going on all night long? Plan on showing up at 10pm or so and staying.

 

Ill be headed over with some friends at noon, hope to get in line around 2:30 for the 3:30 free for all.

I have around 6 bottles of central waters BA Scotch Ale if anyone wants to orchestrate a trade.

 

Plenty. Hopped in line about a half hour before they started the second round of sales and got my 4 bottles no problem. It was super easy and you can probably get in line, get your beer, and get home in 2 hours max.

 

One of my secret stores said they were planning on getting 6 cases. Based on that, im guessing they produced a ton this year. On that note, their facebook page said over 1000 wristbands this year. it was 800 (i think) last year.

 

According to their Facebook event it says 1,500 like last year and the year prior.

Yup. Everything about Darkness Day is running like a well oiled machine. Smoother every year. Except for that damned DUMPSTER FIRE!!!
