Today I walked into Total Wine and found a four pack of Weyerbacher Heresy sitting off by itself in a corner of the store which is only a great surprise for me because I missed it so much and it has been years since I have ran across it.

In early March, I walked into a small wine shop in Charlotte and found 3 bottles of Founder's Backwoods Bastard just sitting in the beer section. That was a reflexive buy. Oh, last week I found a bottle of 2009 Allagash Interlude for about $18 at a different local wine shop. I love these kinds of surprises.

In a similar vein I picked up a single of Idaho Select Lager by Wallace Brewing and was blown away. Its an excellent and price competitive Lager from a local brewery.

Walk into a store I rarely go to and there is 1 bottle of BCBCS on the shelf. That was definitely a pleasant surprise.

Walked into an upmarket grocery store in Madison last AUGUST and saw two beautiful four packs of KBS staring back at me. Picked both of those bad boys up. Fast forward a few months, the same store held two for packs of BCBS for me behind the counter. Unfortunately, they wised up by the time this year's KBS rolled around and had a two bottle limit.

Good advice..it's a beer that doesn't make it to my area very much.

2010 Evan Williams Eclipse in a shady liquor store on Haight in SF shortly after the release. At the time I thought it was a pretty amazing find.

Yep, I purchased none. The ultimate brainfart. This was 5-7 years ago.

Today I went to a basic (nothing upscale) liquor store about 3 miles from home that had expanded its beer/wine/spirits selection some, there were a few solid gems (like Racer 5) but nothing special...

...until I saw a few 6-packs of Nugget Nectar casually resting in the cooler. HUZZAH

If in the area you should stop by. Not worth just making a trip just to go there, but worth stopping in if in the area (unless they keep pushing the beer envelope). They do growler fills though, you can go on-line and see what they have.

Not really anything special but I stopped in a small mom and pop wine shop this weekend and they had a couple Firestone Walker §ucaba on the shelf, it was a big deal to me since none of the other big shops in the area had any and I've always wanted to try it.

I get excited when I see the FW boxes in my basement, let alone on a store shelf.

Earlier this year, found 4 bottles of Dogfish 120 minute sitting next to 4 bottles of Dogfish Raison d'Extra in a liquor store in Worcester, MA when I was there for work. I'm in NC, so normally no chance of finding 120, much less the d'extra, so I was set.

I walked into a local store yesterday. I had called them on two separate occasions asking if they received any Juliet. I even left my name and number with the guy, because he said they don't put that kind of stuff on the shelves...they keep it in the back and call people who are interested.

Well I went there yesterday to pick up something else for a trade, and there was a whole case of Juliet bottles on the shelf! Needless to say I made a few phone calls to buddies and walked out with 5 bottles for the four of us. Very happy to find that!
