Well, last entry for the evening. Several beers. Some were good, some... well, I don't really understand why you would drink that. We went to watch the World Series and get some tasty wings. And yes, they were. Too bad the game didn't go too well. Several thoughts: Creme Brulee really is as sweet as everyone always says. The aroma is aptly named: it really smells like an overly sweet creme brulee. It wasn't quite AS sweet to taste, but that still leaves a lot of sweet room. And it takes up much of that room. No balance to speak of, just caramelized sugar and some vanilla. Fantastic Voyage was a borderline hop bomb in comparison (note: Fantastic Voyage does not really have any hops to speak of). If you like smoothe creamy sweet stouts, it's pretty good. Definitely pick up the coconut, which I thought worked in this particular iteration. The coconut works well couched in the venue of a milk stout. Coconut milk and all that.
As we continue down our zymurgic path: We came home and decided to crack into the BBQ. We figured since she's leaving in the morning, we should probably drink the Bourbon Barrel Quad. It was a little thinner than I expected, but the flavours came together well. The bourbon was certainly present: I"m excited to see how it comes along over the next couple of years. The flavour is almost reminiscent of being wine barrel aged. I was a little perplexed by this initially, but it was the cherries. There's a mild tartness that I can also see mellowing into a nice subtle concoction. Definitely an enjoyable beverage experience. The last stop in our transcredible exploits made the least sense. We decided to pick up a Ghostface Killah on a whim. I... I just don't really get it. Like, conceptually, I understand blah blah, but why would people intentionally drink it? All it is is capsaicin and vegetal pepper. It was my second ever drain pour, and beyond being a novelty, I don't... I don't understand.

Anyway, hopefully all the tests next week go well. I'll be at the Seattle/St. Louis Monday Night Football game tomorrow night to cheer on my Seahawks. Good night all, and drink well!!

    1. Goose Island Night Stalker - bit of a one note stout but very drinkable
    2. Bell's Expedition Stout (2012) - Tasty stuff, might even prefer this to Black Note
    3. Benno - My second offering from Stift Engelszall and like Gregorious this is brewed with honey. Love this brewery.
    4. Oude Tart - Been wanting to try this for some time, and it delivered. Wanted to try the version with cherries, but this sufficed. On tap at Hop Leaf.
    5. Tangent - Didn't hear great things about this beer but wanted to try it and was lucky enough to get it on tap at Maria's. Honestly very forgettable, I enjoy Two Brothers IPAs but this left much to be desired.
    6. Top Fuel - Local Option's Barleywine is deceptively smooth, you'd never know this was 14% abv. Tastes even better free.
    7. Year of the Dragon (2012) - Honestly I have no recollection of this beer, guess I got drunker than I thought.

    You're not alone.
    I believe it.
