On Friday someone stole my last bottle of 2012 BCBS from my cellar during a Halloween Party. Didn't notice until next morning, really made my hangover that much better. I can understand someone opening one because they didn't know better, but to out right snag it? So low. Could have been worse, I had far rarer bottles sitting right next to it, Cantillons, BA FWs, RRs. Makes me think this person knew just enough that Bourbon County was an expensive beer, but ultimately didn't know beer very well. Still its annoying now to have to track down a beer I already paid good money for, and have to trade something else equally rare and expensive for.

Yea not the end of the world, and I'm sure others have much worse stories to share.

I had a box of old Russian river brews that dissapeared on me. All types of vintages of supp and tempatation. No idea where I placed it. I've looked for it multiple times. May have been split up into other boxes but I'm still lookin for it now. When I found out it was missing I had a 11 supplication in a trade, my trade actually fell thru when I informed the trader and tried to replace it with something else (and more rare!) owell.

Sucks to hear about someone actually taken something from your stash tho op!

Thankfully, no I haven't had this happen to me, and hope it never does! Sucks that someone would steal from ya. Would you have opened it if someone would've asked you?

Good luck on replacing your stolen bottle and finding out who can't be trusted that was invited to the party, people suck.

When I look in my fridge expecting to see more beer, and I don't, I figure out exactly why I am so hungover.

How many people were there? I'll bet you can figure out who is the culprit. Maybe you don't remember drinking them? I hate suspecting anyone anytime. Thieves suck.

I'll bet they can't, short of an actual confession or other proof. The criminal mind is just that.

You may be right, but I'll bet the OP shortens his invite list next time. Whole lot of betting going on for a Monday AM.

I wouldn't have another party until I got the bottle returned. They could return it on the doorstep when I wasn't home... no questions asked.

The only other alternative is to lock up the cellar. Unfortunately, a kleptomaniac will just steal something else isnstead.

Ouchies, My beer stock is always so low if you do not count homebrew I would notice it. Sorry for your loss.:slight_frown:

I have broken a bottle or two, but that is about it for "losing" beer. I did get a tad mad at myself for breaking a bottle of Orval once.

Live and learn, having a party and you do not know everyone well, LOCK up the beer you want to save!:grimacing:

Some people stole a ton of my Leinenkugel light during college many years ago. I was not happy.

I will make an assumption(perhaps faulty) that you are on the younger side. As I have gotten older especially with wife and kids I basically adopted the policy that people do not get invited over unless I know them fairly well and trust has been established.

Sorry for the loss but as you said 1x 2012 BCBS, could be a lot worse.

I don't want to be "that guy", but if I were the host of a party, I would hide any beer of value that might be in the fridge. Hide the good stuff and buy something cheap, like Narragansett.

2010 bottle of Black Butte Porter XXII or whatever roman numeral it was that year. Lost it for 3 freakin' years. Found it about a month ago and had it. Fantastic beer made better because it was an unexpected treat to find it after so many years of thinking it was gone. mmmmmmm delicious aged imperial stout goodness.

I shared some really nice beers with a friend of mine, and he promised to bring me a bottle of fou foune to keep for myself at my next party, which he did. He hid it in a cabinet that nobody would go into, but then the next morning when I went to go look for it, it was gone. I mulled over in my head thinking "What monster could have done this?" A month later I found out the guy who brought it got drunk, drank it later on in the night while I was upstairs in another part of the house, and then banged my best friend.
