Thank you for your insight and help on the topic at hand.

Some may argue that because Duchesse is soured in part by using Acetobacter bugs that produce acetic acid the vinegar taste produced is exactly what the brewers are going for. Flanders Red Ales aren't for everyone though

Although saying it is not sour then saying it tastes like vinegar is sort of a contradiction...dontyouthink?

Haha Sorry really dislike this stuff. I'm a sour beer junkie and love Flanders reds, can name a few that are leaps ahead of this stuff as in taste, but also around $20 for 750ml. Hey just not for me and i think the price tag is outrageous for that reason. Rotten vinegar ending.

Something sour/tart and easy on the wallet/ to obtain is Lindeman Gueuze Cuvee Rene...

The only ones I've seen as 4-packs are The Duchesse, a few of the Petrus sours, and Cuvee des Jacobins Rouge. I've also seen the Lindeman's Cuvee Rene and Monk's Cafe in 330ml bottles if you don't want to by the 750ml bottle.

Regular Rodenbach is sold in 6 packs.

As others have mentioned, there are several good options sold in 4 packs, but if you're looking specifically for sixers, that's the only one I'm aware of.

I think a lot of the good ones that seem reasonable for a 12oz bottle have been named. That being said, definitely check your bottle shops, even the ones you don't frequent too often. A lot of the shops around here (ATL) sell most of those in 4-packs and also broken down into singles. Likely the best way to go.

Personally, Monk's and Petrus Aged Pales are my go to for that size/quality/price point and both I can snag singles in a few different locations in the city.

Enjoy the journey into the realm of the wild and sour! Your mouth will say thank you and your wallet will shank you while you sleep. My most expensive single beer purchase to date has been a sour =)

This might literally be the only one in the world, and it isn't even really that sour either. I doubt many people would recognize it as a sour, actually.

I don't know of 6 packs, but the following are in 4 packs

Petrus Aged Pale Ale (absolutely amazing by the way)
    Dogfish Head Festina Peche
    The Duchess
Newport Storm Xavier is in 6 packs!
I think Monk's Cafe comes in 4 packs too

That's all I can think of at the moment

A bomber of Rodenbach comes at $9-11. That's a wonderful deal.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look for Monks cafe. I guess said the wrong thing, its not the budget, so much as not wanting to drink a full bomber every time I want a sour.

    Thanks guys

Would this hypothetical sour six also come with a 24 pack of tums?

I didn't like that much but it mixed pretty well with rubaeus, one too dimensionaly sour one too over sweet, together not a bad drink.

Do you realize that many sours/wilds come as 375 mls, definitely sippers not a 12 oz pour. I am still slowly drinking through my 375 ml of intense red which will take several nights to enjoy. Consider the allagash coolships, or just buy a few champagne bottle caps, most sours arent intensely carbonated and can be capped and drunk over a few nights. Those 375 mls can be $15 -$20 each but if you want to buy 6 most times people will not stop you, but your wallet may suffer.
