Saw a lot of beer hoarders on Facebook today. Do you really need 12-18 bottles of Darkness? I know I don't.

You're going to make 4 people very happy!

I personally wouldn't age that many. I think Darkness in the bottle is better fresh.
Then again, I would trade more as well because Darkness is on tap a lot.

    To each his own.
I see nothing wrong with buying as many as you want, to do whatever you want with them.

Thanks for the advice. May end up trading those in the future as their value goes up as well. Your pic of abrasive is getting me restless.

I bought 30 bottles today to sell on eBay. The demand is high this time of year so I can fetch a pretty penny. I might save a few for cellar cred though.

Was in there about 9:35 tonight and they still had some on the table near the coolers. 2 bottle limit.

Got my one for the year. After my first time with Darkness last year I am just not as excited this year. If I can get a second I will but will cellar it. Definitely don't need more than 2. Good luck to the BA's still hunting.

This is true, but Surly sold the bottles to BC Liquor, who in turn sold the bottles on D-Day.

Sounds like other than Zipps, places are selling out in record time.

Had a friend drive to several liquor stores in St. Paul after work last night & came up empty. His comment: "Not going to bother next year, since, y'know, I have a job." It is astounding how fast a $20 beer sells out in the middle of the day in so many different places.

With the exponential amount people getting into craft beer, limited releases are going to keep flying off the shelves faster every year, especially with social media as a platform to announce releases. It is nice most liquor stores don't keep bottles on display so you have to ask for them. Otherwise they may go even faster

Its also nice to have a flexible lunch break to go beer hunting

MGM in Chaska and Chanhassen is selling Darkness for $29.99 and Haskell's Chanhassen has it for $25.99. You have to ask for it at both places. I hope they get stuck with it. Don't these places know that trying to screw over your customers for a few bucks hurts them in the long run? I don't mind it as much if a small store makes a little extra on special releases but the big stores make me laugh at them and get a little upset.

Do they hand out bottles of courtesy lube with each purchase?

People sell the stuff on craigslist for what? $40? The actual value of a bottle is well over $19.99. It's over the $25.99 they are charging. While I'd prefer to get it for the MSRP, it's value is a lot more. I don't see how this is "screwing over your customers."

unfortunately they'll sell through them all at that price, a la surdyk's. the guy who just started getting himself interested in craft beer because he enjoyed the lift bridge farm girl he had at a wedding this summer doesn't know how to buy these limited releases, so he finds himself at MGM and forks over the $30 because it's the only bottle he could find. or the older guy who hears his sons talk about craft beer sees it on the shelf, and he knows it's an expensive beer but doesn't realize it's $20 expensive and not $30 expensive, and he buys it anyway. these big places know what they're doing from a profit perspective, which is why they are big places. i can't exactly get butt-hurt over it. it's business, and it happens everywhere.
