Had an absolute blast for my first darkness day! Met tons of cool people, participated in the BIF, and of course sampled some great stuff. Had fun trying to describe the spectacle to my coworkers this morning. Already pumped for next year!

Cheers to the guys next to us sharing Alpine growlers and other treats

I got a bottle and a poster redundantly signed! Cool guy.

I didn't realize he was there until my bottles were already put away in my vehicle far away, or I'd have loved to stop by. Sounds like a cool dude

Completely agree, I got a poster and bottle signed. There was nobody else there so I got a chance to chat him up for a few minutes. Seemed like a great guy who was a fan of Surly before doing the artwork.

Thanks for stopping by! I wish I could have put more names to faces, it was pretty busy, dark, and drunk....

I was the copartner in the Ridgeline and I agree that the zombie dude had a thousand yard stare. It was one of the more interesting ways I have ever been woken up. Glad no one was hurt and the Prius was undamaged.

I know that's frustrating, especially since it's only one year after you were able to do it, but at least in a vacuum, to expect to show up an hour after the public sale begins for one of the three or so biggest beer releases in the country and expecting to get bottles when the beer community starts camping out as early as 2 pm the night before and smaller beer releases get "the last guy" in line at 4 am is a bit naive, no?

This is why it's important to volunteer, volunteers had 6 bottles set aside for them. Awesome!!!

That would encourage more idiotic behavior. We need a black beret wearing vigilante group, like the Darkness Angles, to take down bottle smashing pricks and Prius stealing jerks and hold them until the police arrive. Or at least punch their legs until they can't walk. Can't walk? No Darkness. HA! Don't let the few a-holes ruin the event for the thousands.

This sounds much scarier to me than the alternative. A few drunks breaking bottles don't worry me as much as a group of drunk individuals who think they are the police.

I totally agree that those who camp out /arrive very early should be rewarded. I'm not angry with Surly, it was a greatly ran event. I was just more surprised that when I lined up for the open sale at 3:30 when they announced to, I probably moved 5 feet (in an hour) before they shut it down, which was the frustrating part. With past years, experience of just hopping in line, maybe my expectations were skewed.

Im curious to know how many bottles they had to sell at the brewery and how many bottles went to distribution , and how it compares to years past

Will the Darkness Angles also be helping people with their Geometry homework?
