Founders Harvest Ale (2013)

I understand your enthusiasm, but perhaps a step back from the hysteria would be instructive.

Fortunately craft beer has such an enormous variety of wonderful brews that no BA will go thirsty or even necessarily feel deprived and depressed just because he was not able to obtain the latest hyped-up release when the stampede for it began and it disappeared off the shelves in less than a half hour. Were it the last of available life necessities, then one might be justified in feeling deprived and depressed. But as the saying goes, "it's only beer."

For some reason, the term "herd mentality" comes to mind.

 

Has this hit the Tampa area?? Seen zilch at ABC, Luekens, or Total Wine and I make trips to at least one of those places almost daily. What gives?

Raleigh is a fiendy market for sure. I commute back and forth to GSO which is totally different, there's a TW near me in GSO that still has probably two dozen bottles of the 11/13 Enjoy By whereas Raleigh was sucked dry after a couple hours.

 

I appreciate the advice, but I haven't been chasing this one too hard, I just lucked into the beer guy at this particular store reserving some for me. I didn't even ask him to, he just came over with a sheet and asked what my name and email were. I get what you're saying but I don't get too down if I don't get a particular beer I'd like.

 

To each there own. I love harvest ale. I have had many a majority of the top IPAs and still contend that this is up there. We all have are favorites, our overrated lists etc. I burnt gas and time today working any angle I could to get as much as I could in Raleigh today and I will be making calls tomorrow too. I now have a fridge full and a glorious week or two of drinking!

 

Exactly its an allocated product. Your core product numbers determine your Limited/seasonal quantities.

Northwest Indiana received our shipment Tuesday. Seemed like every shop with a good craft beer selection each got a case. Every place I hit up had a one four pack limit. Ended up with four four packs and a single. Not bad for a hours work. It is delicious. By far the best fresh hop beer I have had this year.

 

Only certain NJ stores got one case max.

 

Was Nick's on 30 one of them?

Just wondering, as I stopped yesterday and they told me it came and went on Monday.

 

Finally made it to the Norfolk area... two-bottle limit at Grape and Gourmet.

 

Drank my first of the year last night. I usually love this beer. Just a hugely dank, resinous IPA that is a showcase for fresh hops. I definitely thought that the 1% abv increase was noticeable. It just tasted boozier this year. It landed in Durham, NC on 10/29 and was bottled on 10/2. Sad face. I know that four weeks isn't ridiculous but this is a wet hopped beer dammit! I have a feeling this is on Tryon. Again. Quick turnaround last year but they dropped the ball the year before. Disappointing in a totally beer-geeky kinda way.

 

Try Stout Brothers in Smyrna, Sprayberry Bottle Shop in Marietta, and Greens on Ponce and Buford. Bout three four packs from them. Still havent tried it yet though (Dont judge me)

 

Anyone know of any places in Ann Arbor that has harvest ale?

 

I was there tuesday about 2:30 and they had it in the back since they just received it. I asked for some and they gave me a four pack. I called a buddy and he got there by 3:00 and they were sold out. Check the Stockhouse if your still looking for some.

 

it's in NC now. hoping to score some. i heard some stores are doing a 2 bottle limit...

Wow! This will be great if we can drink it into December. Then we should be getting Sucks and Abrasive should be available.
Abrasive from Surly? That's news to me if that's what you mean. MN only i thought.

Abrasive is January to March, I went through 5 cases, france44.com was great, living in VA and that VA allows booze to be shipped to your house rules!

 

So I walked away from three 4 packs sitting on my local shelf this afternoon. Never had Harvest Ale. I told myself its not worth the hype and I'm not going to get sucked into it... then I read this thread. I drove back to the store and luckily they had one 4 pack left. I got sucked into the hype. I'm actually extremely pumped to try this tomorrow!
