busy weekend, Thursday was SIBA North West competition at Hawkshead Brewery, let's just say many beers were sampled. Saturday a visit to Keswick Brewery again a few beers were sampled. Back home and it's time to sample a Fullers Past Masters Double Stout, and it is sublime and getting better.

A good forty minutes early for my Evening lecture made me wander down Oxford road
and sadly my first choice to rest for half an hour with a swift one
The Phoenix, shown it had gone up in flames without rising from the ashes
just up and over proved an all time crap name for an inn
    "Pub/Zoo" literally including the slash
a quick pint of Robinson's Trooper
much maltier & less hoppier than the bottle version
or was it their lines needed clearing

Finished the lecture and early for the bus back
& really needing a pit stop,
stopped into The Salisbury Ale House
where Moorehouse's White Witch was a big improvement
though a very quick half Everards Pumpkin Ale
    was a little dull though

    Stella Artois
    Harbour Brewing IPA
    Fuller's London Porter

Harbour's IPA was fantastic - hoppy and balanced. Should've been a contender for the Beer Hunt champion! Oh well, we all know the best brews never win.....

It's taken me nearly an hour to get up from the computer chair and get myself a beer I've been that shattered

Bottle of Beavertown's Black Betty (Bam-a-lan), though to be honest I was after Smog Rocket,
which foamed and foamed and foamed on opening
Smells black jacks and nicely balances the monster hops with the dark art of roastiness
    with the tastes

    No work tomorrow
was half tempted by Brewdog's #Mashtag but SN's Tumbler was half the price so
    here we are then

Now are my tastebuds faulty or is this yet another fairly bland brown ale?

    M&S Greenwich Black IPA
Competing with Tesco Finest Double IPA for biggest taste hit for a supermarket beer
and in serious danger of taking that acclaim

Funnily enough like Ingrid this is a beer that very easily justifies the extra price tariff
big flavours and a lot of fruit(though the blueberry is struggling to make itself known)
if you miss how Hardcore IPA used to buzz on the tongue
either one of the "My name is" will remind
and the "Evil Twin" does show as more than just a gimmick

I did plan to end the night on
Cuvée Van De Keizer Blauw by Brouwerij Het Anker but
with it being a full 750ml bomber bottle and a whopping 11% and me being on my own
I may take the easier option of a wee dram :grimacing:

Voodoo Maple Bacon or whatever is an abomination, only for the foolhardy or seriously inebriated.
