Drinking a Night Shift Viva Habanera right now. A rye ale brewed with agave nectar and
aged on habanero peppers. Pretty tasty and a nice spiciness on the finish.

This. The Thai Chile, Lime, Ginger Wahoo Wheat is awesome. They had Longfin Lager with tequila soaked habaneros when I was there this past weekend.

I've had chili beer once, drained poured most of the bomber after a few sips. This is one style I doubt I'll try again. Beers where the chili spiciness isn't so prominent in some of the stouts mentioned above, I'll definitely give a try.

Of the two I've had, Mango Magnifico and DFH Positive Contact, I found it to be overpowering and took away from my positives about those beers. I couldn't tell if the burn I was getting was from the alcohol or the pepper. Look forward to trying it in a stout though.

Good luck finding it, but Against the Grain's Bo and Luke w/Chili Peppers is the BEES KNEES. Smoked imperial bourbon-barrel aged stout w/chili peppers? Yes please.

Dogfish Head Theobroma. This beer had every comfort food taste in it. Chocolate, anatto which tastes like cinnamon, honey & warm ancho chile. It was light and not dark and drank like warm sweet sunshine.

With so many flavors in the world, it stuns me that chili seems to be on the short list of beer flavorings.

Ekse's Taos Green Chile beer. Tremendous roasted green chile flavor. You have to have had real New Mexico green chiles to appreciate how good that tastes. Just a touch of heat.
Unfortunately, you have to go Taos to get it...

Oh, and living in NM in the early 90's, I gave Crazy Ed's Cave Creek way too many tries. That stuff was everywhere. I still rank it #1 worst ever.

Chile made with Theobroma won our company chili cook-off (judged by real sensory types, not just us peons) by a VERY wide margin. Theobroma's good stuff and the cook was able to get hold of all the individual ingredients which was a great way to understand the flavors and interactions.

*Note: Chili is what you eat out of a bowl. Chile is the pepper.

I can honestly say my favorite chili pepper beer is Spicy Nachos from Evil Twin, it tastes exactly like spicy nachos. Phenomenal!

Chocolate oak aged yeti has some cayenne pepper in it, and that's amazing....
Mole stout from ska brewing company is great and seems to have much more peppers and heat this year....
Renegade in Denver makes a chile beer with pablanos that was surprisingly refreshing and easy to drink

I like chile beers as long as the main character is not pure heat or chile, and there is enough surrounding the pepper flavor to balance it out.

I've had mixed results with pepper beers. I disliked the Founders Mango Magnifico with Habanero peppers. It was one of the few beers that was a feeling as much as it was a taste.

Chili refers to both the pepper and chili dish. However, chile can be used as a variant to chili, but it's fine to use chili to refer to the pepper and is not limited to what you eat out of a bowl.

Might be unpopular, but chili heat is not a taste I want in beer. I rather enjoy eating spicy food paired with a solid IPA, but I don't want to have to reach for a beverage to kill/compliment the heat in my beverage.
