I'm sure some of you saw on the facebook page, but we'll be releasing our first barrel aged beer this Friday. 11/1. It's Lobster Genome Project .0 (which slightly tweaked, became Life Of Sundays) aged for 8 months in Arrington Port barrels. It's 10% abv, and heavily influenced by one of my favorites, the Alesmith BA Wee Heavy. It also will serve as a 1 year anniversary beer as the timing lined up nicely.
The fruitiness of the port plays really well off the heavy caramels and toffees of the base brew in my opinion.
Please let me know if there are any issues, and I'll be happy to do anything in my power to rectify them.
    Hope all is well!

And also, the beer dinner for the 401 Tavern for the 30th has been rescheduled to November 19th.

Is this a bottle only release? Any limits if so? Thanks!

Yeap. 2 bottle limit from what im told. Single barrel, so only 248, 750ml bottles or so. Corked and caged.

Would you mind elaborating how the Lobster Genome Project .0 is different from Life Of Sundays?

Not at all. Genome was 100% scottish yeast and a larger first runnings boil down, whereas Life Of Sundays got a blast of house yeast to tear her down the last 2*P, and utilized a smaller boil down. I feel Life of Sundays has a stronger ester profile than Genome, along with being a touch sweeter. Genome was crisper, deeper, and drier. There were growlers of Genome available around February, but it was just 1.5bbl overflow from what we couldn't fit in the Arrington port barrel.

    Will it age well?

My rule of thumb is to only bottle condition things that can see six months on the shelf and not be all that worse for wear. I don't want to be written off over a six month old pale ale you tried on the shelf, but a brett saison, berliner or barrel aged wee heavy is a different ballgame.
That being said, it should hold up fairly well. However, I'm an advocate of drink barrel aged beers "fresh" for best barrel character. Celtic New Year was bottled a couple months back so it's already got some time in the bottle under her belt.
I say just treat it like any bottle conditioned beer, give it some time in the fridge to settle nice and clear, decant proper, and give her a taste.
Please forgive my darty train of thought, I'm a bit under the weather and meds are stronger than I remember.

Just a heads up, the unnamed Biere De Miel is quietly conditioning in corked 750s (~515bottles) and some sixtels (keg conditioned). Still needs a few weeks to condition out though, second week in December maybe?
**6.8%abv, brewed with roasted yams with a light nutmeg dusting, meadowfoam honey, vanilla and cinnamon.

Also Paul's Boutique is in capped 375s (~500bottles) and currently carbonating. Just bottled yesterday so probably, mid January at the earliest.
**7.6%abv, Arrington Port Barrel Aged with a mixed culture for 10 months, Biere De Garde brewed with TN grits. A Paul Vaughn Collaboration.

I have no idea on the timeframe of labels or approval (or price points at this moment), merely giving you good folks the production update

Hope all is well, happy holidays!

Also curious to what you guys think of the new batch of galaxy single hop. This batch is pretty much entirely reworked from the ground up. Getting closer each time.

Well, sure, but not like it was a sell out in hours kind of thing. Got there today and got my growlers without issue. Initial tasting was not what I expected on either the Excess or Stalkholm (one way better than I expected and one not quite as good as expected) but will try the growlers before I pass judgement. At any rate, cool place with cool people selling beer. I will be back.

Sacrificed a little appearance in the name of flavor on the new galaxy. Hopefully not in vain.

@BigStein88, sorry to hear your visit wasnt to your liking. If you feel there was an issue other than personal taste preference, please shoot me a message and im happy to correct anyway in my power.

New Excess is great. Tastes like someone squeezed orange, clementine, and tangerine into a smooth cream. Well done, Dave.

Dave, thanks for taking the time to respond. Wasn't trying to imply that my visit was not to my liking. I love what you are doing over there and had a good time with some tasters and getting growler fills. I did not find the Excess to my liking but was impressed with what you have done with the Syndrome. And I love a brewery that does not make me buy new growlers! (how many does a guy need?) I am really late to the game getting to your place and will be back for your next release. Hope to meet you there next time.
