Hey guys looking for a little help here. Going to be staying Downtown Chicago Sunday night. I am looking for opinions on the best deep dish pizza. Also some decent craft on tap would be great. Thanks in advance.

Head up to Pequod's in Lincoln Park for the pizza. I'm also partial to the sweeter sauce of D'Agostino's. If you can't get out of downtown you can always do the regular places (Malnati's, Giordano's, Gino's, Uno). But if you can make it up there, Pequod's is fantastic.

Never mind. You're looking for deep dish.

I guess I'm really looking for the downtown ones. Of the four you mentioned which do you prefer and which has at least some craft beer? Doesn't have to have the best selection but would be nice to at least get a good IPA or something.

This is where you need to go for beer. I stayed in Printer's Row last year and was able to walk to Malnati's. Their beer selection has the staples (GI, Great Lakes). After you get your fill hop the train to Hop Leaf and reward your palate.

Pizzaria UNO. State and Wabash. 312-321-1000. Old man Malnati worked there before he ventured out. Can't say about their beer selection. Go elsewhere afterwards.

Here is a hidden gem on the north side if your ever in the area and want a slice of thin. http://www.pie-eyedpizzeria.com/ If your ever going to a Cubs game here is one in the area you can park your car for free, Devry Institute at Western/Addison http://www.pizzapetes.com/ Years ago it was THE best thin in the city.

For deep dish I always preferred Malnatis. Get the butter crust crust. I think the sausage on it is outstanding.

Pie Eyed is great. Used to stumble in there hammered all the time when I lived in River West.

I like Giordano's and Malnati's the best of those four. Giordano's will be thicker than Malnati's. If you go to Malnati's and get sausage, get the patty. I would guess Malnati's would have a better beer selection but I can't say for sure.

It's really a family trip so not looking for beer destinations. Just a good place for dinner with hopefully a good beer. Next weekend when I'll be in town again for the Black Crowes show will be different!

I know the owner. A great crust and best tomato sauce Ive ever had on a pizza. Very good meat as well, and the slices are huge.

Giordano's. If you haven't tried it, it's damn good.

If your there early you might want to hit Resis Bier Stube at Irving and Lincoln. Go south on Racine to irving and then west right past lincoln, north side of Irving. Its a small place with a Bier garten. Very good Brats, Kassler ribs, sour kraut, and excellent beer both in bottle and on tap.

    Pizza Downtown
Pizzeria Uno (and Due) is the OG of Chicago Style Pizza.

Other options for good Chicago Style pizza downtown
Lou Malnati's (Lou was a cook at Uno's) Typically will have reasonably acceptable beer.
Pizano's (Started by Lou's dad Rudy who was the manager at Uno's) ok taps.

Gino's has been really spotty for me over the years so I have stopped going there. Giordano's is fine but is a bit like comparing to Outback Steakhouse to legit top end one, i.e. still tasty but other places are better.

If you have kids, Uno's can have a crazy line and they do not take reservations. Malnati's on Wells doesn't take reservations either, but is bigger and usually less of a wait.

With that, if I am downtown with out of towners and they want Chicago Style I will take them to Pizano's if we are more in the Loop or Lou's (Wells st) if we are closer to River North.

    BM if you have questions.

Resi's biergarten is awesome, but IMO the beer AND food is better across the street at Laschett's.

Sorry if there was any confusion. Last weekend was downtown and pizza. Went to Gino's East mainly because I was outvoted. Food was good, beer selection was pretty good also. Had a couple of anti-hero IPA's. Great beer so I was happy. This weekend is Black Crowes at Riviera. Staying at City Suites on Belmont. No kids this time. I want to go to Hopleaf for sure but what else would you guys recommend in that area?
