    It would cost me less to buy one bottle over priced than to go to kelly's. But If I buy 2 bottles then it would be cheaper at Kelly's.

    I'd go to Kelly's anyways, they know what they are doing and I want to support them.

    30+ minute drive doesn't sound like it costs more unless you are adding a value for your time or drive a tank.

    It costs me about 10 in gas to head into San Jose and back. Gas is about 4.30$ a gallon in my town. And I only get about 20 miles to the gallon ha.

    Lucky you don't drive my car then. Everyone else I have met from CA thinks hour drives are short.

    Ha I can see why. Since our state is pretty long, geographically, we'll drive a few hours just to go to Santa Cruz or down to San Diego or whatever and it still feels close. Russian River is about 2+ hours north and it still feels like it is RIGHT there.

    On the east coast you'd probably be entering separate states, right?

    I can be in many states in 2 hours, VT, NH, RI, CT, ME and all over MA

    Quite the reach in available beers. We don't get Alpine, Southern Tier, Founders, a lot of Dogfish, Three Floyds, Saranac, and pretty much every east coast beer out there.

    But you guys probably don't get much Deschutes or Russian River either. =/

    Oh and Bell's or Cigar City, damn.

    Not many get Alpine, ST is ok but mostly on the sweet side, Founders is bomb(I have had so much KBS this year it's just stupid), not a DFH fan though we get it all, don't get Three floy'ds but want some zombie dust, Saranac is not my thing at all. Bell's and Cigar City don't head here either, that is why there is the trading forum. Some of the best local stuff(New England) are the obvious ones like Heady Topper and Hill Farmstead; but others like Maine Beer, Jack's Abby, Wormtown, Cambridge Brewing(the best stuff is only at the brewpub), NEBCO, etc areworth seeking.

    You're complaining about a 30 minute drive? I'm officially over this thread.

    I took a day off from work this year(paid) and drove a lot of miles to net 34 bottles of KBS, which I shared at least 8-10 bottles with brewers/bartenders at places I frequent as well more with as friends and other random beer lovers. I had a couple myself and trade a few for odds and ends I can't easily get. I noticed I only have 3 left, oh well. Take the drive and make it worth it

    In all honesty you guys should be mad at those willing to pay that price, after all, the market sets the price not the store.

    I buy online for right at 6 a bottle, I'd never pay much more than that. For the money Alpine is just as good, take your pick all 3 are great.

    All these righteous indignation threads about some store overcharging for beer are quite silly.
    A) As Manzo points out, if there wouldn't be beer geeks willing to pay the prices charged, the stores wouldn't be able to do it. It's primarily the buyers' fault;
    B) As FunkyMcG & others have pointed out, It's not like there's only one good beer available. Drink something else good and fugedabadit;
    C) The beer you want costs more than your disposable income? Waa-Boo-Hoo. Increase your income and you won't care what it costs. As J.P. Morgan once said, "If you have to ask (the price), you can't afford it."
    D) The store bought it and the store owner can charge what he/she wants. To complain about that is tantamount to complaining when some BA writes that they drainpoured a beer. Once someone owns a beer, they can do what they want with it.
    E) Yet another example of the entitlement society: "I want that beer and it should cost what I want to pay for it."
    Yadayadayada....

    I bought Pliny off-the-shelf in Ohio for less than that. I'd order online going forward though.
