I would also be interested in this inquiry. Paid $13 for a four pack in Detroit. Got my father to scoop me up two four packs outside of GR for $11 / 4 pack.

If I recall correctly...I believe one of my friends picked up a case for $60 at the brewery but I could be recalling incorrectly

I'm not a homer. Founders has faded fast in the ability to make excellent beers.

Someone please name a recent Founders brew (other than KBS) that been outstanding...

Three years ago if asked who I felt is the best brewery in the US ... Founders without hesitation. Fast forward to today - not in my top 5 and fading fast.

I would very much disagree, although you are entitled to your opinion. I never really appreciated Founders until I moved out of West Michigan.

What other outstanding beers?? Imperial Stout(one of the best RIS around). Breakfast Stout(very sought after and for good reason). Double Trouble(great DIPA). Porter (simple but one of the best around). Amongst others that have not been widely distributed....Black biscuit...panther cub...

Now...I realize that not many are too the same level as KBS...but I dare say KBS is one of the top 5 beers in the nation. Matching up to that with every beer is unrealistic.

Edit....Allow me to throw in Backwoods and Curmudgeon which I also forgot.

    I'm sorry. I said "outstanding"...

This will be my last post on this subject to save the integrity of the thread... I truly believe that Imperial Stout, Breakfast Stout and Backwoods fall under the "outstanding" category (at least in terms of distributed beers. Black biscuit and panther cub are beyond "outstanding").

I believe if any other brewery brewed any of these three beers, that would be their "outstanding beer". Founders just spoiled us with the likes of KBS and CBS.

Absolutely agree with being spoiled by KBS & CBS...

I got 2 at Champane's at lunch, they were plenty busy (as usual on Wednesday lunches). I have family in GR so will be acquiring more from the brewery but these will tide me over.

Strongly agree. FBS, Imp. Stout, and Backwoods Bastard easily fall in the "outstanding" category for me. But as stated earlier, everyone is entitled to their personal opinion.

I'm not trying to be "that guy" and I'm far from a Founders hater but a buddy and I opened a '13 Backwoods last night that was thoroughly disappointing. I've seen many others talk about how much they like this years Backwoods and this is one of my favorite Founders beers, so I was very surprised by the bottle we opened. We were expecting the usual boozy goodness that is fresh Backwoods but got mostly caramel and vanilla with very little oak and very faint bourbon. We then opened a '12 that had more bourbon and oak than the '13. The '12 was amazing compared to the '13.

Needless to say, I was extremely bummed out. The bourbon was so muted and subtle - almost to the point of being nonexistent.

If you hit D&W last weekend when they had their 15 percent off sale, you could have walked out with a case for $66...or three of them.

Wait, was it a 15 percent sale, or a "buy one, get two free" sale? :grinning:

Yep. I got a couple buddies that are the line police too. See y'all at 4Elf!

The exact reason why I like this year's so much.

So what is the consensus on cellaring BB? Just bought two bottles today thinking that one now, one in the cellar is what I should do. However, after reading some comments, I'm worried. Does it or does it not age well? I'd hate to not enjoy this one to the fullest.
