Yeah, Williams Bros. seem to be the best at making this style which makes sense since they're Scottish. The Alba Scots Pine ale is great and the Prof. Fritz Briem version was fantastic as well. Posca Rustica was a big disappointment though...

Had Dogfish Heads and liked it, it'd be interesting to see more breweries takes on this style.

Had Sixpoint's Mad Scientist Series #13 (The Gruit), and it was a pretty solid brew. Somewhat hard to find, at least for me, but I would definitely get it again. Combining it with hops? I'm in.

Upright's Raggae Junkie is phenomenal, but even better yet is their Special Herbs. I don't think they bottle the Junkie but the Special Herbs is now an annual bottle release.

For those in California, especially NorCal. Moonlight Brewing makes a few. Uncle Ollie was weird...like drinking a bunch of fermented weeds. I didn't care for it. Working for Tips (used redwood tips) was awesome though. All Moonlight is only in draught and his non-regular production beers can often only be found for a month or so at few participating locations.

Breweries have also brewed beers using spruce tips.

At the NYC Craft beer Festival this week-end I had another Dogfish Head gruit beer call Kvasir.

A bit sweeter than the Etrusca and very tasty. I'm definitely digging this style of beer.

If used in conjunction with hops, they would not be gruits. They would be adjuncts. If it is good, who cares?

I really enjoy Steenbrugge Tripel. It's a gruit Tripel that's fantastic, affordable, and all over the place here.
